REASONABLE RATES 571-3757 Local Woman Involved in Tri-Chem Art By Cathy Denny BHS Co-op Student In the ever changing world in which we live, some things just never change. Tri-chem embroidery is one of those things that have been around for ages. Tri-chem, unlike the earlier embroidery, is made with paints rather than thread and is still one of the more interesting hobbies around. Some people, like Gisela of peopli Gisela's Variety Store in Bowmanville, work on this craft for hours a day, making not only a hobby out of it but for some people, a career. Gisela has been a tri-chem instructor since January 1978, having only discovered it the previous year. This only goes to prove Glktia's statement, "It is so easy that a baby could dç it," she laughed at her over-statement. It was just recently that Gisela was named a regional leader because of her love of the art and eve more, because of her talent. Gisela, along with all of the instructors in the region will be setting up a booth at the Oshawa Home Show in the Civic Auditorium beginning the 23rd of April and ending the 26th. This along with the annual Tri-Chem Convention in Toronto in July will give all tri-chem users a chance to compare notes as well as familiarize many others with the art. The tri-chem paint can be applied to almost any surface including wood, fur, porcelain, and linen. The paint is contained contained in a tube and is easy to apply to any texture. It is conveniently washable, bleachable and dry cleanable. Gisela now sells her tri- chem art at her home in Bowmanville. Although she is considered just a beginner (only four years under her belt), Gisela has accumulated a whole room, plus an attic full of her work. "I know that I will never in my life be able to use all the tablecloths, bedspreads, bedspreads, and aprons that I have made for myself, but I just can't seem to part with any of them," sne said, adding, "You, know, sometimes sometimes I am my best customer!" •ds; pli boxes ; picture frames; 2 pine drop leaf tables; antique settee ; antique bottles; crown sealers; earthen jugs; set antique kitchen chairs, pine table and chairs, arrow back chairs; butter bowl ; hall rack. Pictured here, this rare 1936 Auburn with a straight eight cylinder engine is estimated at $60,000. It and about 200 other automobiles dating from 1910 to the present will be on sale April 24, 25 and 26 at the Oshawa Auto Auction, Highway 401 and Courtice Road. Buyers from all over Canada will inspect the selection of antiques, hot rods and Indy pace cars, hoping to make an investment or relive the past. As an investment, for example, how about a 1930 Ford Model A Roadster? In five years, auctioneer Mierle MacDonald said, its value has gone from $5,000 to $20,000. Way back in 1930 it probably went for $400 brand new. Not only that, it gets 30 miles to the gallon. By Karl Shaw There are three areas of concern aside from price, for the family who is considering having a pool installed: The S roduct, the installation, and le installer. Some product variations have no bearing on the performance or longevity of the pool, but in some instances, the variations can be. critical. Be sure that you know what you are buying. Make a list of the features which you want and do a real comparison between the companies and what they offer. A company can price a pool very low by offering a cheap product which will give less in durability, material, and care in workmanship. Remember that you are making making the second or third largest investment of your life and you want it to last.
