Students or by calling the school at 986-4241 On Tuesday, April 14th an amazing, unexplainable phenomenon phenomenon visited the auditorium auditorium at B.H.S. No, we weren't invaded by U.F.O.s. Instead, the Incredible Mike Mandel performed to the great pleasure pleasure of an audience of over 200. Mike Mandel is an exceptional exceptional illusionist. He is not a hypnotist. His routine, does not involve any hypnotism. He merely makes suggestions to your subconscious mind, which, since it is the larger part of your brain, follows the suggestions. However, Mandel's "powers" go far beyond any simple "tricks." There were many skeptics before the show began, but when it was over, no one in the audience doubted the fact that Mike Mandel was truly incredible. incredible. The show began with Man- del doing simple card tricks, guessing without any clues what cards had been taken from a deck. He then went on to find an object that had been hidden by students in the audience. Mandel was then joined by Backwards Bob, who is in the Guiness Book of World Records Records for being able to write anything backwards or upside-down or both. Bob could even speak backwards with ease. He also had amazing memory powers, knowing the day on which any date fell for any calendar year as well as reciting backwards a 30 digit number that he had never seen before. However, the highlight of the performance occurred when Mandel brought about 40 people out of the audience on stage. Then, by merely getting them to concentrate very hard, he had them enact out many hilarious things. He sent them on an interesting train ride, through excruciating heat, freezing cold and ëven a nudist colony with everyone involved reacting accordingly. accordingly. He made them feel that their arms were lighter than air, that their eyelids were glued shut, even that they were being unexplainably pinched or attacked by z 'boom-slangs." , When the performance was over, all those involved were none the worse for wear, except for the fact that they all felt that, for some strange reason, their shoes were on backwards. After the show was completed, everyone agreed that the evening's entertainment had been great. Mike Mandel, by what he does, could be compared to the Amazing Kreskin, only instead instead of being amazing, he is simply INCREDIBLE. --by Lee Anne Willatts Solina W. I.
