Council Briefs Approve Raffle The Newcastle Lions Club has been granted permission to hold a raffle during July in connection with their annual carnival. In a letter to council on Monday, the Lions Club explained that the carnival takes place July 24 and 25. A raffle for a microwave oven and accessories will be held in connection with this event. In addition, permission to close Baldwin St. from Caroline to Edward St., directly west of the arena Friday night and Saturday afternoon and evening was granted by council." Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore: a gown of Chiffon with a high neckline, empire waist and bishop sleeves. The dress and headpiece were trimmed with guipure lace pnd cameo trim. The groom and his attendants wore chocolate brown three piece suits, with white carnation boutonnieres. The reception was held at the Tyrone Community Centre, where the bride's mother received the guests in a formal gown in the shade of persimmon, wearing a corsage corsage of red roses. Council Praises Jr. Cs The town's championship Junior C hockey team received received an official word of congratulation congratulation from Newcastle's town council on Monday. In a motion introduced by Councillor Maurice Prout, the team was congratulated for the honors that it has brought to the Town of Newcastle in winning the Ontario Junior C championship. The Eagles won the title in a game against Essex on Sunday. Town council voted to unanimously unanimously thank the management, management, coaches, sponsors, and players on the Cowan Pontiac- Buick Junior C Eagles hockey team.
