Margaret Stainton gave a reading on stewardship and introduced some new neighbors in the community, Mrs. Sharon Henderson and baby Carla. A very interesting devotional was given by the group in charge -- Ella Bowman, Nellie Groeneveld, Phyllis McGregor, Thelma Corby and Elsie Beckett. The theme was "The Whole World, God's World and Ours". Ella Bowman then introduced the guest speaker. Mrs. B. Rowsell. She told how thousands of people would come to the various places to receive their shots and stay to talk and to watch. Mrs. Rowsell is eagerly awaiting another trip in November. Norma Kempling thanked her and presented her with a small gift of appreciation. A humorous skit entitled "Tell me, Doctor" was presented by the group in charge. Norma Kempling then closed the meeting with the benediction and a social half hour followed. Mr. Raymond Clapp, Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rahm, daughter, Mrs. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yeo, Hampton were recent callers of Mr. Adam Sharp. A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Reid and family on Mother's Day. Mrs. Gertrude Lyons was a supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Pollard on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Piggott and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. James Piggott, Bowmanville, on Sunday. The Wright family entertained their mother out to dinner on Mother's Day at the Ali Baba Restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rekker and family, Newcastle, were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Avery and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Howe visited with relatives in Beaverton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wright, Jeffrey . and Trevor, Pontypool, on Sunday evening honoring Trevor on his second birthday. Donna Boudreau received first prize with 79 per cent in the elementary trumpet solo competition. Tricia Frank received received a first prize with 78 per cent for the trombone solo for. students with three years experience or less. Jim Brown earned 81 points in the tuba solo category for students with three years or less and received first prize. Janne Tamblyn placed second in the elementary flute solo with 82 per cent. Maurice Nesbitt won second prize for an alto sax solo for students with three years experience or less. He received 77 per cent. In the elementary French horn competition, David Brown placed third with 73 per cent. Fourth prize in the alto sax solo for students with three years experience or less went to Rob Cox, who received 74 percent.
