It was chaired by incoming governor Kinsman Jim Schell of Bowmanville. Purpose of the gathering was to deal with district business and represented the official kick-off of the club year for 1981-82. Various deputy governors representing the zones in district eight, along with kinette district co-ordinator, Rose Hartwig of the Orono Kinette Club, participated. Mayor Garnet Rickard welcomed the group on behalf of the Town of Newcastle. Those who attended are pictured above during a break in proceedings Saturday.
