1 'iVeildvnÿ On Saturday, June 19, 1982, Orono United Church, adorned with baskets of summer flowers and lighted candelabra was the setting for the marriage of Colleen, daughter of John and Doreen Gordon, R.R. 1, Kendal, and Keven James, son of Douglas and Roma Pidgeon of Oshawa. Rev. W. Wright officiated. Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked lovely in her mother's wedding gown of white tulle and chantilly lace, fashioned with full three tier skirt with hoop, lace sleeves and bodice. Her lace and crystal beaded juliette cap held a full length veil; she carried a cascade bouquet of red silk roses, white carnations and baby's breath. A single strand of tiny pearls adorned her neck. Maid of honour, Heidi Nicklaus and bridesmaids Ruth Munro and Michelle Henry were stunning in. foil length gowns of dusty rose with silky matching Jackets and flowers in their hair. They carried bouquets of roses and apple blossoms with white chantilly lace ribbons. The groom and his best man, Rick Howe, ushers Jim Thomas and Doug Gordon, brother of the bride, were handsome in light grey tuxedos, ruffled shirts ana grey bow ties. Following the marriage ceremony, a wedding dinner and dance was held at the Legion Hall in Bowmanville. Prior to her wedding, several surprise showers were given in the bride's honour by fellow employees at Ply Designs in Orono, and by her family and friends. Monsignor Cleary assisted the Reverend Paul Erb in the double ring ceremony. The organist was Mrs. Ross McMaster and the soloist Was Mrs. Arthur Beevor. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a white, formal gown of organza featuring split Bishop sleeves and Empire waist, trimmed with Chantilly lace and tiny seed pearls. The fitted bodice and high neckline with a sheer embroidered yoke enhanced the gown. Her full A-line skirt, highlighted with accordian pleats flowed softly back to a chapel train. A Juliet cap held her French illusion finger tip veil trimmed with a border of matching Chantilly lace and she carried a cascade bouquet of pink rose buds, white carnations and baby's breath. The maid of honour was Miss Jayne Barlow, and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Philip Kift, Miss Lois Dart, sisters of the bride and Miss Teresa Dusseldorp, sister of the groom. They were identically gowned in soft lilac full length gowns with matching lace capes and carried nosegays of white daisies, pink carnations and white baby's breath. The maid of honour carried a nosegay of white daisies, pink rose buds and baby's breath. Best man was Mr. Gary Dusseldorp, brother of the groom and the ushers were Mr. Frank Macri, Mr. Larry Langford, and Mr. Harvey Dart, brother of the bride. The groom and his attendants were dressed in grey tuxedos. The bride and groom were chauffered to the reception at the Polish National Hall, Oshawa by Mr. Jim Phippen, Courtice in his 1938 Cadillac. The bride's mother received the guests in a soft yellow street length flocked organdy dress, she wore a matching corsage of white and yellow carnations. She was assisted by the groom's mother who wore a rose street length dress of polyester crepe featuring a blouson bodice and a corsage of pink carnations. Mr. Daniel Curwin, Oshawa, acted as Master of Ceremonies. The bride chose a two piece suit of pale green linen, highlighted by a black blouse and a corsage of yellow rose buds and baby's breath, to leave on their honeymoon. The couple are presently residing at 41 Lacey Ave., Toronto, Ontario. The Reverend John Peters united in marriage Linda Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wood, R.R. 1, North Orono, and John Moore, on Saturday, July 24th, 1982, at 3 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Bowmanville. Mr. John Crookshank was the organist. Given in marriage by her parents the bride wore a white formal gown of chiffon over taffeta featuring a high mandarin collar, point d'esprit net and Schiffli lace yoke inset, fitted bodice, full bishop split sleeves accented with Alencon lace and tiny pearls. The ring bearers were Danny and Bradley Wood. The maid of honour was Andrea Braun, sister of the groom, and the bridesmaids were Valerie Wright, Oshawa, cousin of the bride, Sheila Roberts and Deanna Braun, Sister of the groom. The girls were dressed alike in formal peach gowns with matching floral jackets. They carried miniature carnations, baby's breath and stephanotis nosegays nosegays which complemented their gowns.
