The local squad lost to Essex on Saturday, 7-4, but came back to win the second game at home by a score of 7-3. The score of the final game was 3-1. In the top of the eighth inning with one runner on base, Tim Mc- Dermont of Essex slammed a Randy Reid pitch over the left field fence at Memorial Park to win the deciding 3rd game 3-1 for Essex. The teams had battled all day. Bowmanville won the first game of the double header 7-3 to tie the series at 1-1. Chris Hall pitched 5 and one-third innings, giving up just 2 hits. Randy Reid finished finished up to post the save. The match up on the mound was great. Big Randy Reid throwing smoke and Tim McDermont throwing side aim junk. They battled each other for 8 straight innings, Randy striking out 8 Essex batters and Tim striking striking 9 Bowmanville batters. , Bowmanville bats' were booming but not at the right times. In this series, Bowman- yille pounded out 31 hits to 15 for Essex but as the saying goes, pitching defense and timely hitting win ball games, I would like to take this opportunity to thank His Worship Worship Mayor Garnet Rickard for being in attendance and welcoming Essex to Bowmanville.
