Mr. and Mrs. Alec Martin attended the 25th wedding anniversary party in honour of Mr. and Mrs. George Felgate, Unionville, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Storey, Brighton KOA Camp, were Wednesday visitors with her mother, Mrs. Gladys Pacey. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brown, Peterborough and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gordon, Lisa and Julie of Oshawa, were Saturday Saturday visitors with Mrs. Gladys Pacey and family, observing grandson Vernon's Sunday birthday. Mr. and Mrs. David Milton, Ian and Sarah, Ottawa, spent a recent weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Paterson. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wade spent last week in Ottawa where Harry attended the Ontario Association Homes for the Aged Convention at the Skyline Hotel. Both enjoyed the banquet on Wednesday evening. On Tuesday evening, Mrs. Everett Lake hosted a surprise surprise miscellaneous shower in honour of Miss Cindy Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Scott, bride-elect of Ken Morrow, Oshawa. About fifteen neighbour ladies attended the shower. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crago visited on Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bedwin and Fred, Lake Shore and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Murray, Frankford. We extend birthday greetings greetings to Mrs. Lillian Aiken who is a patient in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Mrs. S. Y. M. Woo recently enjoyed a vacation in Camp- bellton, New Brunswick with her daughter Julie and family. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holmes recently enjoyed a vacation, visiting her sister Mr. and Mrs. Wes Graham, Pontiac, Michigan. Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding accompanied Mr. and Mrs. William Lake Sr. to Port Perry on Sunday when they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Skelding and girls. Mrs. Irene Cunningham and Mrs. Helen Carveth of Orono recently enjoyed a motor trip to western Ontario. At Amherstburg, they were guests of Reae Roberts for several days and while there visited Mr. and Mrs. John E. James at the Amherstburg Echo. They continued on to Detroit to visit Helen's sister before returning home. Mrs. Dae Storks and her mother, Mrs. Joan Faris were co-hostesses for a baby shower on Wednesday evening in honour of Mrs. Bill (Delma) McCullough and infant Natasha. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Cooper, Oshawa, were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Kathleen Kimball. Recent visitors with the Sam Brereton's were granddaughter granddaughter Shari Lynn Alldread who spent the last week of the summer vacation with her grandparents and Irene. Margaret's sister and her husband, Helen and Charlie Aquilina, Toronto, spent Orono Fair weekend with Sam and Marg. They all attended the fair and Charlie and Helen had a marvellous time meeting meeting old friends. They left Newcastle to stop in Ganan- oque for a few days and then continued on for a holiday trip to the East Coast. On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Pauline Storks attended the official opening of the Rene Racine Bridge in Port Hope and reception following at the Greenwood Towers. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Malcolm, Heather, Allison and Erin, Nestleton and Mr. and Mrs. Ian McKenzie, Sean and Ailan, Orono attended the baptisms of Melissa and Melonie Allin at Newcastle United Church on Sunday, Sept. 19,1982 and were guests of their parents, Mr. ana Mrs. Stanley Allin following the service. Friday the travellers enjoyed the Ford Museum and Greenfield Village at Dearborn. Crossing the border back into Canada on Friday evening the Holiday Inn at Windsor gave the Senior Citizens a royal welcome. All were billeted in lovely third floor rooms overlooking the river. Saturday's drive home was along the scenic shore of Lake Erie to Kingsville where about an hour was enjoyed at the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary. Sanctuary. Dinner was eaten at St. Thomas, Delhi and the tobacco country were seen and the beautiful city gardens in Brantford were much appreciated. All who enjoyed this trip speak highly of the organizers. Mrs. Doris White and Mrs. Coutanche of Toronto spent Wednesday night with Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley, enjoyed the bus trip and were Saturday night guests of the Buckley's. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lancaster recently spent an evening at Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Brock's home, Orono. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Jones, Newtonville, were callers Sunday evening at the Sidney Lancaster's. The Newcastle Horticultural Horticultural Society holds its fall show on Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Newcastle Community Hall. Newcastle Senior Citizens are invited to attend. We understand there are still seats available for the Sat. Sept. 25th bus trip to the Dahlia and Chrysanthemum Show, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hendry, Melissa and Benjamin, Benjamin, Cambridge, were weekend guests of his mother Mrs. Charlotte Hendry. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bennett, Ennismore, were Saturday evening visitors with her mother, Mrs. Nellie Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Robin Alldred were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Alldred, Oshawa. St. Francis of Assisi Friday, September 17th, there was a movie and social gathering in the parish hall. The movie "My Bodyguard" was enjoyed by all. Events will be held each Friday night, starting at 7:00 p.m. and all students in the community from grades 7 - 9 are welcome. On Saturday, September 18th a Christian Information Night was held. The speakers were Rev. Don Stiles, Newcastle Newcastle United Church, Rev. Alan Haldenby, St, George's Anglican Church and Rev. Thomas D. Walsh, St, Francis of Assisi Church, Next information information night will be on Saturday, September 25th at 8:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall, Sunday, September 19th, Rev. Ken Malane, former pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Bowmanville, celebrated a special re-dedication Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. Closing event of the Centennial Centennial Year will be the Diocesan Holy Hour at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. All are welcome. St. Francis of Assisi C.W.L. .will hold their first fall bazaar on Saturday, November 13th. More details later. Anglican Church News On Sunday, Sept. 26 at St. George's Anglican Church, Rev. Grant Schwartz of Whitby will be the guest preacher. This is a special Museum Hosts Treasure Identification Day LETTER TO THE EDITOR By mid-afternoon, more than 50 persons had already brought antiques, collectibles, art and various other items to the Bowmanville Museum's 1 Treasure Identification Day. Here, David Ritchie, of D & J Ritchie, fine art auctioneers and appraisers in Toronto, examines a pair of paintings brought to the museum for evaluation. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie appraised items at the Bowmanville Museum on Saturday, September 18. The program is the beginning of a lecture series on antique collecting which starts September 22. There is still a limited number of tickets available for the fall lectures. Thanksgiving Service for the Anniversary Sunday. Donald Stiles on Sunday, Sept. 19, 1982 at Newcastle United Church. Those baptized were Kathleen Melissa Jean and Melonie Dawn, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Neil S. Allin, R.R.l, Orono, Ontario, and Jordan Thomas Schmahl, Newcastle. Sunday School classes began on Sunday morning. Teachers will be required. Rev. Stiles preached the sermon, Our Faith, Our Heritage. The Adult Couples Club meet at the Manse on Sunday evening, Sept. 26.
