i ( 10 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, September 29,1982 NESTLETON CAESAREA by Mabel G. Cawker Correction Sincere regrets re - the error in the account of Vic and Win Malcolm's delightful delightful weekend in the last issue of the Port Perry Star - one "highlight" of their trip was left out accidentally - it should have read - they spent Saturday in Trenton viewing the spectacular Air Show put on by the Trenton Air Base. Sorry folks! Section Two Caesarea Euchre A fine evening of cards was enjoyed on Wednesday evening last with a good attendance. The following are to be congratulated. First prize - Roy Werry with 82. Second prize went to Henry Visser with 78. The low score was taken by Jean Bolan with 52. Now that fall is on the way we expect more will have the incentive to attend. At the close of the ladies' auxiliary serve a good lunch. Try to go next Wednesday eve. and lend your support - the auxiliary would appreciate your attendance and as well, you would have a fun night out. Trip Mrs. Helen Campbell of Nestleton, holidayed in Calgary, Alberta, recently for an 8 day period with her daughter and husband, Karen and Bruce Williamson. Williamson. and children, Christopher Christopher and Heather. Helen enjoyed the visit immensely - but the weather was unseasonable. unseasonable. When she returned to Ontario, warm sunny weather greeted her. This past week Mr. Grant Campbell, Nestleton, Mr. Howard McMullen,. Port Perry, and Howard's daughter and husband Bill and Beth Bradley, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, motored to Kingston, Nova Scotia, to visit with Grant's sister, Evelyn, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bonney. Mrs. Anne Vanderheul and Mrs. Winnifred Davison . returned home to Nestleton after a two weeks bus tour of the Maritimes - the trip included Prince Edward Island and the Cabot Trail. They returned home through four states of U.S.A. A most enjoyable trip! Nestleton United Church Rev. Dale Davis chose "The Ten Commandments" as his theme in the Nestleton United Church Sunday morning. The children's story stressed the need for rules in life - even tic-tac-toe requires rules - a good illustration was given. Choir number "Open my . eyes that I may see". The sermon topic "The One and Only." Next Sunday is world wide Communion Sunday. Presbyterian Church Sunday, September 26, provided a lovely day for the celebration of the 137th anniversary of Cadmus Presbyterian Church, Nestleton, with a large congregation attending with many old friends returning for the occasion. Thè guest speaker was Rev. Alex McCombie, B.A.B.D. of St. Andrew's, Islington. His text was taken from Ephesians I: the theme of his Address "The Mark of a Great Church", Mr. McCombie not only provided a thought provoking sermon but he also sang two lovely solos "Under His Wings" and "On Higher Ground" in a thrilling baritone voice accompanied by his wife, Ruth on the organ. In addition to thesè solos, there was a duet with Tracy Howard and Peggy Scott playing their Flutes and Alison Scott singing "Glory To Thee My God" with flute accompaniment. Mrs. George Scott played for the Hymns. Altogether it was a deeply moving service - one to be remembered followed by a delicious anniversary dinner provided by the ladies' Aid Association. Sympathy Our deepest sympathy goes out to brother Gordon Cawker of Lindsay in the loss of a beloved wife and mother, Sybil, who passed away on Friday. She leaves to mourn, husband Gordon, daughter Joyce and husband Anthony Franek and family of Michigan, son Bill and wife Cicely and family of Kirkfield and son John and wife Pat and family of Fcnelon Falls. Service was held Monday afternoon at the Chapel in Fcnelon Falls. Sybil was a favourite in the family and her ever ready smile and friendly ways will always be remembered by a "host" of relatives and friends, Miracle's Grocery super Deals Plein or Assorted Flavours Gay Lea Swiss Yogurt 175 g pkg.
