Councillor Bruce Taylor announced Tuesday he will seek re-election to the ward one (Darlington) local seat he currently holds. Mr. Taylor first entered municipal politics in November 1976 when he was elected to a two year term of office as regional representative for ward one Darlington. Following the completion of the term he opted out of the political scene for the next two years. In November 1980 he ran a successful campaign which gave him the ward one local seat on Newcastle council. During his term as a regional councillor in 1978 Mr. Taylor served on the board of directors for the Rural. Ontario Municipal Association. Prior to entering politics he established a 20 year association with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture serving as the elected representative for Durham County. For seven of those years he was also a member of the provincial executive. Councillor Taylor emphasizes his desire to bring dignity and responsibility to local government. He stressed the importance of sensible and rational decision making. The ward one incumbent says one of his major priorities will be to keep a hold on municipal property taxes. The 55 year old farmer works a 210 acre parcel of land southwest of Enniskillen and lives in the family homestead. Mr. Taylor and his wife Jean have eight grown children.
