Mr. and Mrs.' George Carson attended the wedding in Newcastle United Church, on Sat., Oct. 2, of Miss Cathy-, Scott to Mr. Kenneth Morrow. Reception was held in Kedron Dells Golf Club. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kimmett and family, Lindsay and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bailey and family were Thanksgiving dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Dorothy Bailey and Mrs. E. Billings. Mr. and Mrs. Lome Bowins spent several days last week visiting her sisters in Hamilton, Mrs. Rose Agnew and Mrs. Violet Minier. Guests of Rev. and Mrs. Wright over Thanksgiving were her mother, Mrs. Ruff, and sister Ruth, Toronto. Holiday visitors with the D. Challices Mr. and Mrs. David Perrier and family, Bolton; Miss Denise Challice and Mr. Dean Warren, Peterborough; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Heckbert and baby Rachel, Oshawa, Mrs. Molly Newman and boys (formerly of Orono) from Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan and Family entertained their parents on Thanksgiving Monday for dinner and also celebrated upcoming birthdays of Peter and Jackie, their parents are Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Cowan and Mrs. Bessie Bellamy. Unit News Unit No. 1 met in Main Hall (Wed. Oct. 6) with 12 ladies in attendance. Those in charge of meeting, Nellie Baird, Ethel Carleton and Mary Berry. The Thanksgiving devotion was given by Ethel Carleton and Mary Berry read the psalm selection 103. Nellie Baird gave a very interesting talk on the life of William Booth (Salvation Army). Unit No. 2 met on Tuesday Oct. 5, at the home of Jean Bemrose, with 17 ladies in attendance. Edith Taylor gave the scripture readings and Bertha Touchburn gave an excellent devotion on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving. Recorded Music was much enjoyed by all present. Following the business period, a delicious lunch was enjoyed by all present. Unit No. 3 held in Bowmanville Bowmanville at the home of Mrs. Ethel Tyrell, with 18 ladies present. Those in charge of meeting, Joan Taylor, Hilda Coatham and Ethel Tyrell. Devotions were based on the Thanksgiving Thanksgiving theme and general business and announcements were held. Our next general meeting will be.Thurs., Oct. 21, in the main hall of church, and guest speaker will be from Community Care. There will also be special events at this meeting so be sure to attend. Unit No. 4 met at the home of Mrs. Marie Tamblyn with 14 ladies present. The Thanksgiving devotions were in charge of Mrs. Yvonne Trafford, Peggy Blascke and Marie Tamblyn. A very successful Chinese auction netted $25.00 for our grouo and proved to be a fun method of raising money. A delicious lunch followed the business period and announcements. Unit No. 5 met on Wednesday Wednesday afternoon Oct. 6 in Leskard Church hall with 10 ladies in attendance. Mrs. Violet Sutcliffe gave the devotions based on Thanksgiving.-Plans Thanksgiving.-Plans were drawn up for our upcoming Fall Bazaar on Oct. 30 Sat. and we are in charge of serving lunch at the general U.C.W. meeting Oct. 21. ' Get-well cards were sent to Mrs. Aileen Bairstow who is ill in Peterborough hospital and also Mrs. Doris Loucks who is home again from hospital. A recent happy event took place in their respective homes, when Life Memberships were presented to Mrs. Jerry McDonald and Mrs. Helen Fee from the Leskard unit. Our congratulations to these ladies for their many years of service, and devotion to their church and community. Social Mr. Ronald Burns and daughter Jeannette, Hamilton were Sunday guests of Mrs. Bessie Bellamy.
