The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, October 13,1962 3 sétmûkwnÿ - CfâmhUl 'Hfecldmp, In a double ring ceremony on Saturday, July 3rd, 1982, at 2:00 p.m., Sylvia June Kimball and Dennis William Armstrong were united in marriage at the Holy Trinity Church, Pine Lake, Alberta. The bride's parents are Mr. John Kimball and the late Wanda Kimball of R.R. No. 3, Newcastle, Ontario, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Armstrong, Red. Deer, Alberta. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal chiffon over taffeta gown with a full, trailing train. The fitted bodice and empire waistline were outlined in lace. A matching hat was adorned by an orange blossom head- piece belonging to the groom's grandmother dating back to the 1800's. The bride carried a beautiful beautiful cascade bouquet of orange sweetheart tea roses, yellow stephonitis, white lushia and babies breath. The maid-of-honour was Miss Alida Becker of Orono, Ontario and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Donna Stryker and Miss Cindy Hallgren both from Red Deer. The attendants wore matching formal length apricot dresses and carried yellow and white daisies with baby's breath. The best man was Allan Armstrong brother of the groom, and ushers were Mr. Lynden Durand and Mr. Ronald Mechefski Jr. The men wore indetical brown tuxedoes and ruffled shirts. Following the marriage ceremony, a wedding dinner and dance was held at the Golden Circle, Red Deer. The groom's mother received guests in an ivory dress set off with pink baby carnations with baby's breath. The happy couple later left for a 2 week holiday to British Columbia. Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong are now residing in Red Deer, Alberta. The skirt, falling to a cathedral train had many layers of lace ruffles around tile skirt. To complete her ensemble the bride wore a fingertip veil caught to a head piece of chantilly lace ruffles, and. carried a cascade bouquet of white Mini Carnations, Sonia Roses, Variegated Ivy with Baby's Breath, surrounded by Satin Pekoe Ribbons. The matron of honour was Mrs. Lori O'Brien, of Oshawa, and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Linda Jeffreys, of Hampton, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Cindy James of Courtice. Best man was Mr. Michael Porter, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the ushers were Mr. Steven Jeffreys of Hampton, and Mr. Donald Jeffreys of Oshawa. The ring bearer was Master Jason Jeffreys, of Hampton, a nephew of the bride. Receiving the guests at the reception held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Bowmanville, the br.ide's mother wore a formal gown of blue chiffon over polyester, with a corsage of deep blue roses, light blue tiger lilies and baby's breath. Leaving for a honeymoon in North Carolina, the bride wore a red lino - stripped long sleeved dress, with ruffled collar and bow tie neck. Mr. and Mrs. Burke are now residing in Cooper City, Florida. These hand-carved decoys are part of a 23-piece exhibit on display at the Bow- Hampton W.I. The Hampton Women's Institute met in the C. E. Wing on Oct. 5th. The President Mrs. Burrows opened the meeting with a poem "Autumn". The Institute ode was sung and Mary Stewart collect repeated. The Roll Call "A cure for wrinkles" was well answered and very amusing. Mrs. Kantor had the program and called on Mrs. M. Caverly for the motto on "Aging". She spoke of the past and how things were then and read the Beatitudes for Seniors. "Mrs. R. Barnes of Community Community Care was the guest speaker of the afternoon. She gave each one a brochure and then went on to each phase of the services they provide. Mrs. Bonnie Cowles, Mrs. Kay Stevens and Mrs. Jean Lepine provided the entertainment entertainment and sang a number of old songs to fit in with the theme of the meeting which was thoroughly enjoyed. Lunch of Raisin Bread and cheese and tea was served as our guests had to leave early. We then resumed our meeting. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. At our November meeting we are entertaining our new sister branch Providence - Shaws on Nov. 2. Mrs. B. Macklin reported on the meeting at Mrs. B. Watson's Solina to make plans for the Fun Fare at Solina Oct. 12 and what is expected of our Branch. Mrs. G. Chant is to be our delegate to the convention in Toronto Nov. 3. A donation is to be sent to Erland Lee Museum Home in memory of Mrs. Alice Wakely. Our yearly donation is to be sent to Christian Children Fund for our adopted child in Sri Lanka. Mrs. W. Kantor and Mrs. M. Yoe are going to look after the Christmas gifts for the shut ins. We closed by repeating the Lord's Prayer. manville Museum.
