The final score Bowmanville 9, Lake- field 5. The Eagles got goals from Glen German, Lome Finney and Rob Deboo to take a lead at the end of one period. The Eagles got three more goals in the second period, two by Randy MacDonald MacDonald and one by Brian Heard to hold a 6 to 3 lead after two periods. The Eagles scored three more in the third period, one by Paul Reed, Lome Finney with his second of the night and Ken Farrow. The Eagles scored four power play goals to Lake- field's two/ It was a chippy game with over one hundred minutes in penalties. Lake- field has a very offensive minded team with little defence stressed. Again we saw a visiting team that is better than last year's edition. Tie With Bewdley On Sunday the Eagles again had to come from behind to gain a tie with Bewdley. The Eagles grabbed a quick two to nothing lead in this game. Tim Preston scored from Carl Chambers and Barry Goulah, then Randy MacDonald, his first of three from Glen German and Duane Major. The Eagles then relaxed relaxed for thirty seconds and in that time Bewdley potted two goals to tie the game at two, that is the way the first period ended. The Eagles scored the only goal of the second period, a; power play goal by Stan Greenham from Duane Major and Glen German. Bewdley again tied the score after four minutes of the third period only to have the Eagles grab the lead at the six minute mark. Randy MacDonald MacDonald with his second of the night from Chris Michelsoni and Tim Preston. Bewdley tied the score at four after ten minutes of the period then took a five to four lead with six minutes left. Randy MacDonald MacDonald tied the game with his third goal from Glen German and Paul Reed one minute later. The Eagles pressed for the winner and had some excellent changes but just could not connect. The Eagles as a team did not play well in this game, better now than later in the season. Again the visiting team, Bewdley is better than last year's edition. The Eagles will have to "pull up their socks" in the next few games if they are to remain in the top four or five in the league. Their record is now four wins, two ties and one loss for ten points and a tie for third place in the league standings. The Eagles upped the score to 8 to 1 after two periods on the strength of goals by Lome Finney, Chris Michelson, Brian Heard with his second of the night, Bob Dwyer and Stan Greenham. The Cougars and Eagles traded single goals in the third period. Paul Reed scored for the Eagles. The Eagles out- shot the Cougars 44 to 24 and took only four minor penalties to Cobourg's six. While Town Sports had little trouble defeating Beasties 8 - 2 Saturday night the Dutchmen had to score their winning goal with less than two minutes left to play in their game Sunday Morning to defeat United Drug Mart 6 - 4. In Saturday's first game Town Sports, led by a five point production from Alex Barnett and a hat trick from Mark Clarey, took command of the game early as Alex beat substitute goalie Barry Roberts with just over a minute gone in the game. On the next shift and just over a minute later Mark Clarey netted the first of his goals for the night. Beasties came roaring back to tie it up on goals from Jeff Bickerstaff and Dave Wittaker. Mike Willoughby in net for Town Sports had to face a total of twenty-two shots all night and barred the door on the Beasties. Town Sports added six unanswered goals into the Beasties net as Barry Roberts had to face 61 shots for the night. Other scorers for Town were B. McLean, Eric Strand, Jim Dunn and Doug Ferguson. Saturday's second game saw Shoppers Drug Mart and Clinic Pharmacy tie 2 - 2 in a very entertaining match. Clinic jumped into a 2 - 0 lead in the first period on a pair of goals from Davey Tulk. Shoppers came back in the second on a goal from Wayne Smith to make the score 2 -1. The game continued to be very close and it wasn't until very late in the game and with Norm Babbs in the sin bin for Clinic, that Gary James was . able to find the net for Shoppers and salvage a 2 - 2 tie. Sunday morning the Flying Dutchmen and United Drug Mart faced-off early in what proved to be an important important and exciting contest. Jim Smith gave the Dutchmen the lead early in the game only to have Rick Drew tie it up less thah a minute later. Ray Edmunds gave Dutchmen the lead once again only seconds later. United's John Taylor tied the game up again mid way through the first period. The second period saw Jim Smith and Doug Taylor give Dutchmen a 4 - 2 lead as they headed for the dressing rooms. United came out in the third period and tied it up on goals from John Stainton and Doug Rickard with the clock showing only two minutes played in the period. It appeared as if the teams were content to play out the tie until Randy Tennant beat Ron Stainton with less than three minutes to play in the game. Larry Dion made it 6 - 4 as he found the net for the insurance goal twenty seconds later. In Sunday's final game Courtice pulled out a 4 - 3 win over Bowmanville Restaurant and Tavern. It was a see-saw battle all night as Courtice opened the scoring thirty-two seconds into the game on a goal from A1 Junkin. Bowmanville Bowmanville Restaurant and Tavern came back to tie it three minutes later on a goal from Grant Powell. Courtice Auto Wreckers made it a 2 -1 when Pete Henderson scored his first of the evening. B. R. and T. rounded out the period when Arthur Cormier found the range. The second period saw the decisive action as Pat Lange made it 3 - 2 for the Auto Wreckers then Mitch Clouthier tied it up once again before Pete Henderson scored what proved to be the winner at the halfway mark of the period to make it 4 - 3 Courtice Auto Wreckers. The game was very evenly matched as the shots were 30 - 27 in favour of B. R. and T. G.P. W L T G.F. G.A.
