I AM RUTTING MY TRUST IN HIM WITH MY VOTE AND I HOPE YOU WILL DO LIKEWISE. A Friend of Ted's as well as a Concerned Taxpayer. On Saturday, October 30 Bowmanville Flying Dutchmen Dutchmen Major Bantams travelled to Kingston to play two games against "AA" and "AAA" teams. In the first encounter against Kingston City, the Toros came out flying and played an excellent first period of hockey. Bowmanville Bowmanville opened the scoring with a goal by Murray Henderson. Warren Short and Mark Hickey received assists on the goal. The Toros went ahead 2-0 on a pretty goal by Kelly Balson unassisted. In the second frame Bow- 1 manville fell apart and played very undisciplined hockey which allowed Kingston to get 5 unanswered goals. In the third period the Toros came up with a better period than the second, but didn't dominate dominate it as they did in the first. Behind 5-2, Murray Henderson scored his second goal of the game assisted by Mark Hickey at 6:21, Kingston came back with 2 more goals to make the score 7-3. Paul Herron Herron scored with five minutes left in the game assisted by the Toros captain Greg Martin. It was too little too late as Bowmanville lost the game in the second period. The final score 7-4 in Kingston's Kingston's favor. In the second game the Toros played against Kingston township, obviously the better of the two Kingston clubs and lost 13-2. In the first 30 minutes of the game the Toros made three bad defensive errors which resulted in three goals. They fell apart with three minutes left in the second period which resulted in two goals. Otherwise Otherwise they played very well although being down five goals at this point. Heading into the third period with the score 7-2, Bowmanville played as well as possible under the circumstances of being tired, poor officiating and playing in this "AA" and "AAA" league way over their heads. The humiliation of this defeat made all team members members ask themselves if the better interest of the boys was even considered when whoever whoever is responsible put our "A" hockey teams against opponents of "AAA" calibre. It would seem obvious that anyone with any kind of hockey sense should be able to tell the difference between "A" and "AAA" hockey. It appears that the group of persons persons responsible for this thoughtless decision feel the players on Toro teams involved involved in this league should suffer humiliating losses this season. Building a defeatist attitude will help at play-off time? Scoring for the Toros in this game were Greg Martin from Warren Short and the second goal scored by Mark Hickey unassisted. The Toros' next game is tomorrow night (Thursday) in Ajax at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, Saturday, November 6, Kingston City visits D.S.C. at 6:00 p.m. Hang in there guys. vav* «mi i. mure noais to me nummation Oi mis 6u Walter Frank's Major Pee Wees Throw Scare into Ajax Hosts xir~ ir „_ tt« i_i_ a • - i Rmvrnnr Walter Frank's Major., travelled to Ajax for their 5th regular season game on Tuesday, Oct. 26th. Bowmanville retaliated again as Mark Tripp notched his 2nd goal at 14:01 on an assist from Brad Carnegie. At 11:47 Mike Kane scored from Rob Real, which should have put the Proverbial icing on the cake, as the Toros now had a commanding 7 - 3 lead, but Ajax had only just begun. With 9.52 remaining in the game Ajax literally stormed the Toro net showing no mercy as they quickly went from a four goal deficit to a 2 goal lead. The very tired Toro legs could pump no more and they sadly left Ajax with a 9 - 7 defeat. Although they, were defeated on the scoreboard, in a sense this was a victory, for to score 7 goals against a double or triple A club is an : extreme boost in confidence and hopes for better things to come. On Saturday Oct. 30th Walter Frank's Major Peewees faced the LNHL Red Wings in an exhibition game for the 3rd time this season. There is not a whole lot to report, as both teams played in a manner which would remind someone of a plate of scrambled eggs. You might say the "yoke" was on the Toros though, as the Red Wings did manage to light the Scoreboard three times to Walter Frank's once. The Bowmanville goal was scored by Brad Carnegie from Mark Tripp with only .39 seconds remaining in the game. A defensive improvement was noted, as the Red Wings got fewer shots and scored only three times as compared to six and five times in the previous two outings. "Hang-In" guys.
