Sunday, December 5th was the first meeting to organize our carnival. Unfortunately the response from the membership membership was very disappointing. disappointing. We have a large task ahead of us if we intend to make this, our 30th Anniversary, Anniversary, a special event! The next meeting will be Sunday, January 16, 1983 at 1:00 p.m. in the meeting room of Darlington Darlington Arena. We need to hear from anyone who skated with the Bowmanville Skating Club at anytime during the past 30 years. Our special guest for the carnival carnival is going to be Donald Jackson so plan to attend the performance March 26 and 27th, 1983! We "have also updated the original Bowmanville Bowmanville Skating Club crest and it will also be available early in the new year. Suggestion boxes are under construction and will be I placed at both Bowmanville and Darlington arenas. We would appreciate your comments comments regarding treat nights; suggestions for our Open House on Wednesday, December December 22nd, any donations or suggestions for our fund raising campaign or any other constructive ideas you may have to help our club run more efficiently. Special f iesta were Pastor and Mrs, rb, the 4-H girls - w*ho '"had supplied the rolls for supper - the husbands and other friends. After supper Mrs. C. Lang- maid presided for the meeting in the upper hall. The meeting opened with singing O'Canada, O'Canada, Mrs. Langmaia thanked the girls and then they told what kind of rolls they had made for supper. Mrs. M. Vice read the minutes, treasurer's report and correspondence. Plans for our 80th anniversary celebration January 9, 1983 are nearing completion. A donation was given to the Salvation Army - box of gifts for hampers as well as a monetary gift - also to the group homes in connection with Participation House. The Roll Call "What I would do if I were Santa Claus" was well answered. Mrs. R. Best was called on for the program. We enjoyed singing carols. Mrs. B, Tink commented on the Motto "Christmas Thoughts," To make this' the happiest .Christmas - give something of yourself to others. The world has wandered wandered away from the true meaning of Christmas, so lets try to bring the thought of Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men back into our world. Mrs. J. Kapteyn presented Gayla Taylor with a suitably engraved tray with a cream and sugar set on it. Gayla thanked all the ladies who had been her leaders, also the W.I. for sponsoring the clubs. Mrs. R. Fraser posing as Charlie Farquharson read several of his writings. The 4-H girls exhibit from the "Solina Dough Girls" was commented on by Mrs. Kaczu- lab. It was entitled "All About Flour." Gwen Hiemstra presented presented the leaders Mrs, Donna Johnston and Mrs. Karen Ashton Ashton with gifts on behalf of the girls. The meeting closed with carol singing and everyone being wished the best for the holiday season.
