President Albert Pearce welcomed all and called on Rev. Tom Smith to say Grace. The' Anglican Church Women served a delicious delicious turkey dinner, much appreciated by the attendants. Following the meal, Rev. Tom introduced Arlene Ayre and Pat Prout. Arlene led in a sing-song, accompanied on the piano by Pat. Arlene sang a beautiful solo, Infant Lowly, ana rat and violinist James Lowery provided some toetapping toetapping tunes. The Ding a Lings, Clara Nesbitt, Carman and Bertha White, James and Doreen Lowery, Alvin and Scott Yeo, entertained with more good music, until Santa Claus arrived. That great gentleman took four days to come from the North Pole, even though the folks were told he was coming by jet. The Jolly Chap (Jack Chard) assisted by Madeleine Buck- ley and Myrtle Pearce, delivered delivered a gift to each person, after which Christmas cake, coffee and tea were consumed. Rev. Tom Smith thanked Albert Albert and Myrtle Pearce, Madeleine and George Buck- ly for organizing such a delightful delightful evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wadè spent the weekend in Barrie, where Harry attended Home Meetings and they visited Mrs. Mary Wade and Grant. Of interest to local persons is that Mary's father, Mr. George Henderson, Port Hope, will be 100 years old Christmas Day. Mr. and Mrs. John ' Scott spent the weekend in Hamilton Hamilton with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Newton. Patients in Oshawa Hospital include Mr. William Storks and Mr. William Lake, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gar- rod enjoyed the weekend in Toronto with her sister, Mrs, Jill Christie. Mr. and Mrs. William Storks attended the Ganaraska Christmas party last Thursday Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Lovekin also attended this function. United Church News U.C.W. Meeting On Monday evening, at the Manse, the ladies of the evening unit of the U.C.W. met for their Christmas party. A very meaningful programme was presented by Erla Jose, Marjorie Caswell, Susanne Schumann and Sheila Stiles. As symbols of Christ were placed on a Christmas tree by Marjorie, Erla explained their meanings. Marjorie sang a beautiful solo, 'Star of the East,' accompanied by Marie Pedwell at the piano. Christmas Christmas carols, stories and games were enjoyed before the delivery delivery of gifts. Please give generously. $▲} Vt/ ABILITY FUND The premiere snowmobile event in North America will be held just after the New Year at Peterborough, when the 14th annual Kawartha International Snowmobile Races take place at Morrow Park. The event will be held January 7, 8 and 9, and will attract the very best of skilled racing drivers from across Canada and the US. Canadian and American professional riders will skim over the oval ice track to reach speeds of 148.5 KPH (92 MPH), with terrific pressure applied on corners to both men and machines. The races mean big money to racers, and the spectacle means lots of excitement for thousands of spectators. The big event isn't just winter's salute to snowmobiles, it includes motorbikes, three-wheel vehicles and a centre-field Sno-cross event. Top brand names will be there from Bombardier and Moto-Ski to Yamaha and Polaris. The racers will be driving private and factory sleds especially prepared with runners for ice travel and modified motors according to the rules of the Ontario Snowmobile Racing Federation. The bleachers at Morrow Park on Lansdowne Street will resound with the cheers of spectators looking to their favorite riders to win the gold. There will be 300 racers on the ice oval during 'the 60 events held on the weekend. The announcing, a very important part of the action, will be handled by A1 Simmons of the Ontario Snowmobile Racing Federation, while the starts will be handled by Ross Robinson, a veteran of thousands of races.
