6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowman ville, January 5,1963 Section Two Haydon ( Intended for last week) Our Christmas Pot Luck Supper was well attended although leas than last year. We had a bountiful meal and enjoyed the efforts of those who did the decorating. After the dishes were cleaned up the menfolk set up the chairs for a sing song of carols and Christmas songs with Blanche Jones at the piano and Doug Blackburn acting as Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Don Masterson of Blackstock, a magician, assisted by his family, thrilled the children and adults alike with his tricks and in due time Santa Claus made his appearance and chatted with the children as he handed out the candy bags assisted by Pam Kinney. Mrs. R. Lloyd (Val) invited the' Ladies of Club 21 to her home for a Christmas party with pot luck at 8 p.m. and an exchange of gifts. Everyone enjoyed themselves "Immensely, and as thèy thanked their hostess, hoped she would extend another such get-together for 1963. Mrs. Blanche Jones accompanied Peggy and Cindy Millson to the Newtonville - Starkville Bowlers party held at Mrs. Carol Ruiters, Blackstock. After the supper, where we all ate too much, there was a gift exchange. We spent the remainder of the evening playing euchre. Mrs. Joan Adams thanked our hostess and her capable assistant, our secretary, Mrs. Pat Millson of Blackstock. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Trewin of Enniskillen who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary held at Haydon Community Centre December 18th. Many friends called in the afternoon to help them celebrate, Enniskillen and Haydon ladies joined to serve lunch and Mrs. Walter Loveridge poured tea. Then the relatives were invited to continue their celebrations at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Trewin. Ms. and Mrs. Graham Hewitt, having sold their home in Haydon, have moved to Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Milne have moved from Haydon to Venezuela, South America where he has taken a job. Mr. and Mrs. John Roth visited with Mr. and Mrs. W. Ecclestone, Oshawa and saw their grandchildren for the holiday and had Christmas supper with another daughter, Mr. and Mp. Bostelmann of Yelverton. Mr. and Mrs. Art Trewin . and Paul spent Christmas '.with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Loveridge and family, Tyrone. 1 Mr. and Mrs. B. Cochrane and Cindy spent their festive holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millar at Sunderland. Sunderland. Christmas Eve guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Potts were Mr. and Mrs. Deb Potts and girls, Barbara and Stephanie of Long Sault (near Cornwall), Mr. and Mrs. Bill Potts and John, Kincardine, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Spry and baby Ashley, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Potts, Charlene and Christopher, Haydon, Mr. and Mrs. Art Trewin and Paul, Haydon and Mr. an<tMrs. Will Trewin, Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kennedy and family had Christmas dinner dinner with Norma's sister, Mrs. L. McCormack and family, Newcastle, and hopped over to see Cecil's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Courier tor supper, also" of Newcastle. Glad to hear Norma is feeling better after her stay in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blackburn and Neil and Carol Blackburn of Oshawa spent Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Blackburn and family, Orono. Miss Dale Blackburn, Bowmanville, Carol of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn and Wendy, Haydon, spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blackburn. Mr. and Mrs, Tom Potts and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Haydon, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cameron, Shanna, Shawn, Christa and Kory, Pont y pool, spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Graham, Newcastle, Mr. and Mrs, Walter Rahm, Tyrone were supper guests of the R. Grahams. Mary Ellen Christensen, Toronto and David Atkinson, Toronto had an early holiday with her parents, Mr., and Mrs. Lars Christensen. Lars, Doric and Mary Ellen spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Smith and Jennifer, Oshawa. The Christensens drove to Toronto on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs, Wilbur Blackburn visited Miss Carol Blackburn, Oshawa for Monday night supper. Mr and Mrs. Doug Blackburn and Wendy visited Mr. and Mrs, Fred Smith Monday evening. Mrs. Jean Slemon recently called on Miss Nancy Johns and Mrs. W. White, Hampton, and also visited Mrs. Vera Garrard at Strathaven Nursing Home and Mrs. Alice Thompson, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Laverty, Ajax, and Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Kuhne and Sylvia, Toronto, were Christmas dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs, Mike I-averty and family.
