Following Following the roast beef dinner served « by the O.N.O. President Bob Swain thanked all those who had worked so hard to create such successful Blackstock Fair in spite of horrible weather. Our many trophies were then presented. The Holstein trophies were presented as follows - The Malmont Farms trophy for the Best Holstein Herd was presented by Jennifer Malcolm to Jamie Malcolm, the Neil McLaughlin McLaughlin Trophy for Best Junior Holstein was presented by Jean Mahaffy to Frank Barkey and Doug Wherry presented his trophy for the Champion Holstein Cow to Jamie Malcolm of Malmont Farms. The following Guernsey Trophies were presented. John Larmer presented the Fair Board trophy to Kent Baird representing his father Hugh Baird for the Best Guernsey herd,. Doug Wherry's trophy for the Best Guersney Cow had been won by Robert Holliday and Ralph Larmer and Sons had won the Brian Hamilton Trophy for the Best Junior Guernsey. The Field Crop Trophy for the winner in the competition which this year was in barley. Chairman Lawrence McLaughlin "presented it to the winner Jim Byers. Jack Green presented presented the certificate for Funks Com also to Jim. Merrill and Aileen Van Camp gave a fine slide show of this years fair with slides taken by Bob and Marie Atfield. It gave the hard-working hard-working directors a chance to see much of the activities activities that they don't have an opportunity to see on Fair Day. Committee Chairmen all gave reports that indicated they had all been very busy. Anyone wishing to attend the annual Convention Convention in Toronto on Feb.16 is to contact either Ken or Joyce. The new slate of officers is as follows: Past president - Bob Swain; President - Ken Crawford; Vice- President - Linda McLaughlin; McLaughlin; 2nd Vice-President Vice-President - Roly Coy; Lady Director - Linda McLaughlin; McLaughlin; Assistant Lady Director - Rika Wygerde; Secretary- Treasurer-Joyce Kelly. Guest speaker for the evening was Ingrid Larmer who gave an excellent talk on her ideas about fairs. She pointed out one of the strong points is the great enthusiasm all directors possess. This strong trait is found in all fairs. One of the main objectives of fairs is to tell the agricultural story which in todays society needs to be told more effectively now than ever. Ingrid gave many practical ideas on how to improve our or any fair. She concluded her speech with a review of the Grant set-up for C. and B Fairs, In conclusion Ingrid stressed that any changes must satisfy ourselves, our exhibitors, exhibitors, our visitors, and our banker. Gerald Kelly expressed expressed the meetings appreciation to Ingrid for her informative talk. New President Ken Crawford added his word of appreciation and concluded the meeting meeting with hopes of another successful year.
