By Brian EJIall, AssocAgricultural Representative 4-H Financial Management Club Offered The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food is offering offering a revised 4-H Financial Management Club to young ,people 12 -19 years of age this winter. The club members will be focusing on managing their personal finances and, also, those of a small businessFor a project, members will be investigating investigating and reporting on the management of a small business. Each region of the province will be holding a Regional Competition for the 4-H members, members, that will test their financial financial management skills. Scholarships will be awarded to the top three contestants in the competition. The 4-H Financial Club held their first meeting on February 8th with a keen group of enthusiastic members members turning out. Durham East Pork Producers Hold Annual Meeting The Durham East Pork Producers Producers will be holding their annual meeting and banquet on Wednesday, February 23, 1983 at St. John's "Anglican Church in Blackstock. The meeting will feature a report from the Pork Producers' Marketing Board. Tickets are $6.50 each, available from area directors. Farm Financial Management Today, increasing demand is being placed on farm operations operations on maintaining a good set of farm records and using these in making sound financial financial decisions for today, tomorrow tomorrow and the future. The time that we spend on maintaining maintaining these records could be as important as many of the other jobs we do on our farm. It was explained in steps from the time articles are molded, to the drying, the firing, the glazing. There are different kinds of glaze, so that the firing procedures are different for each. This proves to b.e a very interesting hobby when the finished product is on display. Upon returning to the hall, for the remainder of our February meeting, Mrs. C. Langmaid, president, opened the meeting by all repeating the Mary Stewart Collect in unison. Mrs. B. Taylor, convener of Cultural Activities was called on for the rest of the program, She read the poem "Friendship". "Friendship". Mrs. F. Westlake then commented on the motto "He who owns a hobby owns a mental island of refuge." Hobbies have different meanings meanings to different people, As we grow older and our families are grown it gives us more time for hobbies. We should not let our talents lie dormant, they should be put to work. We can help others to start hobbies. hobbies. Hobbies should be relaxing relaxing and provide a vent for our feelings. Strathaven Dance Raises Heart Fund Money To help raise funds for Heart Month, the Strathaven Nursing Home in Bowmanville held special events last Thursday in the auditorium. A bazaar for the Heart Fund took place during the afternoon and featured baked goods as well as hand-made items. During the evening, a dance was held for the benefit of residents, staff, and friends of Strathaven. Here, Phil Hagerman and Beulah Ault take a turn on the dance floor.
