NesUetoo United CHURCH WOMEN MEET The topic of interest for the U.C.W. meeting, Feb. 8th, 2 p.m. was "Love" held at the home of Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point, on a beautiful winter day. President Bernice Mairs very capably chaired the meeting opening with a hymn, a poem, and a cordial welcome to the 12 members present. Roll call was answered answered by a Bible verse containing containing the word "Love". Worship period was conducted by Neta Fish - a fine illustration of love, with heart warming stories read from "finger Tip Devotions". Devotions". Irene McKee read the Scripture and Gwendolyn Malcolm closed this portion with Prayer. Two hymns were sung. Minutes were approved as read by Assist, sec'y Helen Vine and correspondence was dealt with. Many money raising items of busines were discussed. A variety night is in the offing with more information at the March meeting. An invitation was rec'd from St. John's Anglican Church, Blackstock for Feb. 17- 7:30 p.m. to enjoy a Bible Society film. U.C.W. members are invited to Janetville W.I. May 3 -1:30 p.m. A piano has been purchased purchased by the U.C.W. for Nestleton Church, to be used upstairs. Big Brothers Association The newly elected President of Big Brothers Association for North Durham is Mr. John Goss, R.R.l, Nestleton, taking in the territory north of the ridges. The Big brothers Assoc, is active within this area with boys from Blackstock, Port Perry, Greenbank, and Uxbridge. The Board comprises twelve representatives from the above mentioned area of North Durham. Fourteen matches for the area - big and little brothers. Men are screened to act as big brothers - a father image type of relationship. relationship. Pine Ridge Garden Club Activity The Pine Ridge garden Club will have a bus trip on Wed. Feb. 25th, to Scarborough Town Centre - shopping in the morning and from there to the Pool and Patio Show at Exhibition Exhibition Grounds. Bus leaves Nestleton at 9 a.m. returning at 5 p.m. For information call Shirley Love - ph. 986- 5330. Notice The Nestleton Hall Board will have a meeting meeting this Wednesday, Feb, 16 at 8 p.m. in the hall for the purpose of election of officers.
