Teacher Says Adcraft Program Invaluable Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, March 9, 1963 7 By Brenda Larson Invaluable is the word marketing teacher David Line uses to describe the Adcraft Program. Mr. Line, of Bowmanville High School, says that Adcraft is an excellent opportunity for the students to ao something practical in the world of advertising. advertising. "It creates a hands-on experience for them and they are able to see the final results of all their hard work in print," he says. "It's a valuable experience for them from start to finish." Mr. Line says the students benefit from having to meet with the merchants and come to an agreement of some kind regarding the contents of the ad. "The students have to work within guidelines, guidelines from their teacher and from the merchants. They have to come up v/ith a workable advertisement advertisement within those guidelines," he says. The students in the Grade 12 class found Adcraft fun and interesting. Haylev Ritchie, who worked on an ad for Decor World with Joanne Haynes and Connie Knight, says she may want to go into advertising or marketing marketing in the future. "I think it's a good experience for me and a lot of fun." Connie says that if a person really wanted to go into ad vertising, it would be beneficial beneficial to have participated in Adcraft. "You get a really good look at what advertising is all about and what it means," she says. The students who prepared the ad for VanBelle's Flowers, Ed Bohlken, Teresa Quinney and Joanna Pettit, thought that the program was much better than learning about advertising advertising from a book. Ed says, "It's a good opportunity opportunity for students to experience experience the world of advertising advertising before they leave school." Teresa and Joanna said they thought the program was very competitive from year to year. "We want to see how good Lynn Shantz, says, "You get out There and you talk to the businessmen. It gets you used to the world of business and it makes you aware of what's going on in your town." And Lynn thought the program program was important because "it lets Purina HOG FEED : NUTRITIOUS Economical Supplements *• MINERALS COMPLETE FEEDS 4P VtOGS U o>- '<< AS HAPPY * I** ...
