March 30, 1983 7 Blackstock by Joyce Kelly Two very exciting Bonspiels were held at the Curling Rink this past week. On Monday, the Annual Mudcat with the local High School students participating. Interest was high throughout the three games by each of the two draws. Special prizes were awarded for the Highest End won by Howard Bailey in the first draw and Julie Bryant in the second. For the double take-out Elizabeth Kelly won in the first draw and Ian Porter in the second. Carol Lewerentz won the door prize. The trophy was won by Howard Bailey, Craig Paisley, Tara Bailey and Joy Werry. Second Prize was won by Vince Mackie, Duane Stanley, Ian Porter and Shawn Elliot while third prize went to Danny Russell, Paul Green, Steven Akkerman and Carol Lewerentz. Elizabeth Kelly on behalf of the High School Curling Club presented teacher Randy Scott with a plaque in appreciation of his many efforts that made the season and the bonspiel such a successful successful one. On Tuesday the annual , Kelly Mixed Bonspiel was held. At the end of a long game of keen curling the trophy was won by Dale VanCamp, Susan Swain, Merrill VanCamp and Helen Green. Second place was taken by Brian VanCamp. His rink was made of several curlers namely Doreen, Richard and Ruby VanCamp, Judy Howsam and Carol Mairs. Third place went to Mary Mackie, Ted Kemp, Pat and Lyle Millson. Second and third place rinks were tied in points with three other rinks tied just one point behind. These three rinks were Neil Bailey, Vem Asselstine, and Dave Larmer. Tribute was paid to ic£ makers Bob Strong and Vem Sutton for the fine ice for this event. Curling season in Blackstock winds up with the last game of Mixed Curling on Tuesday Tuesday evening. The Club Dance will be held in the Rec Centre on Friday, April 8 with music by Dennis Francis from Ross Jackman. Tickets costing $5. each are available from any executive member of the club.
