That was the meaning of Sunday's 5 - 3 victory for Bolahoods over Walter Franks. Franks had hoped to finish the final series but now find themselves merely leading leading the six point series 4 - 2. If Sunday's game is an example of what to expect, this could be quite a series. In the first two games of the series, Frank's goalie Britt Murphy had been a major factor in his team's wins. This time, it was Gary Murphy, Britt's brother and Bolahood's goalie who stole the show. Gary made some big saves that kept his team moving at several key points. Some people even question why Gary's net came off its pegs during a period of severe Frank's pressure. Bolahoods, realizing that they faced elimination if they lost, came out ready to play and opened up a two goal lead. John Taylor got Bolahood's first goal on a pass from Kevin Jenkins and Bob Howes. The second goal came as several players banged away at a loose puck in front of Frank's net. Doug Leddy finally put the puck into the net with Bob Engley picking up an assist. Besides this goal, Leddy played an excellent game at both ends of the rink. Tom Connell who has been having a fantastic season continued continued the good work as he started Frank's scoring. He finished off a passing play with Sam Elliott and A1 Clarke. This line has been the driving force behind Frank's excellent play of late. Early in the second, Connell once again connected on a goal with an assist going to aggressive defenceman Mike Donoghue. This tied the score at 2 - 2. Late in the second, Bolahoods Bolahoods moved ahead again. Bob Engley set Mike Laverty up with a clear cut shot on Frank's net and Mike made sure of it. Bob Howes moved Bolahoods Bolahoods into the driver's seat with only eight seconds remaining remaining in the second. Taylor fed Jenkins for a two on one play. Jenkins with a behind the back pass set Howes up for the important marker. In the third, Connell got Franks back into the game with his third marker. This cut Bolahoods lead to 4 - 3. Picking up assists were Clarke and Mark Starkey. Franks tried for the tying marker by pulling their goalie for the final minute. The result of this was Jenkins firing the puck into an empty net to clinch the win, Leddy picked up an assist. Next week's game will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning at the Bowmanville Arena.
