4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, April 20,1983 Section Two Kinsmen Celebrate 33rd Birthday PONTYPOOL and DISTRICT NEWS (Intended fodast week) My apologies to Maurice and Pal Bradley, who recently celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary -- not their silver as I recently wrote in one of my columns. (Old age is getting the better of me). Congratulations are sent to Everett Mitchell in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. He is celebrating celebrating his 87th birthday on April 23rd. Mr. Mitchell is currently living with his son, Oswald, and is in very good health. Mrs. Mitchell will be 92 years old on April 18th. She is a resident in the Strathaven Nursing Home in Bowmanville Bowmanville where she has been for many years. The Peneder home has been sold to Ted Robinson of Newcastle. Newcastle. At the Keenagers meeting last Thursday evening, the president, Tom Donohue chaired the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Donohue just recently returned from a vacation in Deland, Florida. Following the meeting, euchre was played with Beulah Forrest and Stan Wright having the high scores. The Keenagers (55 and up) meet every other Thursday evening in the Pontypool Community Centre. Next meeting is April 21st. Mr, and Mrs. Hal Ellison have re-opened Pontypool's Bargain Centre. Hal and Elma spent the winter in Toronto. At the last Ballyduff euchre prize winners were Cathy Mackenzie, Stan Wright (lady), Ken Mackenzie and Lawrence Adams. Next card party is Friday, April 15th. The sympathy of the community community is extended to the family of the late Mrs. V. Strong of Bethany who passed away last week. The late Mrs. Strong would have been 99 years old on April 27th. Burial was in Ballyduff Cemetery. Congratulations are passed along to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sinclair of R.R. 1, Pontypool and to Mr. and Mrs. Levi McGill of Bethany who celebrated celebrated their silver wedding anniversaries on Saturday, April 2nd. A party was held for Ruth and Ken at the Manvers Community Centre while Helen and Levi celebrated with their families and friends in the Parish Hall, Bethany. Bonnie Preston was guest of honor at a bridal shower held at the home of Elaine Short, R.R. 2, Pontypool, last week. Bonnie's marriage to Sterling Mitchell is planned for Saturday, Saturday, May 21st. Bonnie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Preston and Sterling, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mitchell. I. was held at the home of Doreen Barrie on April 14 with 26 members present. An evaluation evaluation sheet, prepared after eight members attended the R.S.V.P.
