Museum Receives Gold Anniversary Coin at Season Opening BETHANY Celebrates 1st Birthday The Bowmanville Museum opened its doors last 125th anniversary committee. And like the Oscars, where the recipient comes up and gives a thank you speech, our boys wish to express their thanks to the following people. Thankyou to Mayor Garnet Rickard who attended the game and later made arrangements arrangements for a firetruck to take the team on a victory ride through town. The mayor also treated the team and their parents to a victory celebration celebration at Brothers Pizza. Thankyou to Howard Davey and Graydon Brown the two volunteer firemen who came out at 11:00 p.m. from their homes to drive the firetruck. Thankyou to Councillor Ann Cowman who also attended the game and presented each of the champions with a 125th Anniversary commemorative coin. Finally, a very special thankyou to the more than 300 fans who came from all over the area from as far away as Fenelon Falls to cheer the team on to victory. An all Ontario Championship is a once in a lifetime achievement for most young men and fan support plays an important part in helping to achieve that special goal. The team is on to Thornhill for one final tournament this week before their season comes to an end so good luck team, we're very proud of you! After last weekend's cool weather, I think it is safe to ask "Spring where are you?" The Golden Stars Sr. citizens citizens held their shuffleboard and regular meeting on April 6th. The action got underway at 10 a.m. with team 1: Irene MacDonald, Mildred Bristow, Derena Clark, Bertha Ferren, against team 2: George Clarke, Gertie Clarke, Iva Porteous, Lloyd Clark. Team 1 proved the better team that day as they won both games. At 11 a.m. it was team 3: Annie Sharpe, Dave Brooks, Eleanor Brooks, Leonard Driver, playing against team 4: Mildred Braithwaite, Mary Morton, Lawrence Adams, Jessie Adams and each team won a game. Mrs. Vincent Jack- son received the offering and the worship concluded with the singing of the final two verses of the previous hymn. Group ; 4 convenor, Mrs. Marjorie Coppins, presented a playlet on the Easter theme, based on the last three days in the Life of Jesus, entitled, "Peace at Bethany". Taking part were: Mrs. Vincent Jack- son, Mrs. Irene MacDonald, Mrs. Ken Shackleton, Mrs. Viola Thorndyke, Mrs. Nelly Michel, Mrs. Marjorie Cop- pins, Mrs. Margaret Devolin, and Mrs. Murray Locke. The meeting closed with a benediction and a tasty lunch was served by members of groups 2 and 4, under the direction of conveners Mrs. Murray Locke and Mrs. Herb Chislett.
