The competiiton was held on. April 9th, to test the financial skills members had learned in their club. Over 90 members took part in the day, which included quizzes, social recreation and presentations on financial management. LOCAL OUTSTANDING YOUNG FARMERS HONORED Jim Byers from Blackstock and George Hewitt from Beaverton were honored recently recently as outstanding Young Farmers. The two farmers were finalists in the Jaycees, Outstanding Outstanding Young Farmer Program Program in the region. The Canada-wide program is designed to select an Outstanding Outstanding Young Farmer from each Province to take part in the National Program. The Bowmanville Jaycees selected Jim and George for their progressive farm management management and involvement in the community. In a close competition, George Hewitt was selected to represent the region in the Provincial Competition to be held in the near future. Congratulations to both Jim and George. CANADIAN+4-H CITIZENSHIP SEMINAR TO BE REPRESENTED LOCALLY Walt Vice, son of Murray and Faye Vice, from Enfield, will represent 4-H and Ontario at the Canadian 4-H Citizenship Citizenship Seminar from April 22 to April 25. The four-day seminar is designed to provide participants participants with an insight into Canada and it's relation to other countries. Sixty 4-H ambassadors will attend the conference which has the theme "Canadians in the World." Walt Vice was selected last year at a Provincial 4-H Leadership Camp; a week- long camp to give 4-H members members the chance to build stronger leadership and 4-H skills. The children, who were in grades kindergarten to four, were excited at the opportunity to take part in two of the productions. Good Crowd Attends Fish Hunt Club's Open House The Orono Fish and Hunt Club held Open House at their club last Sunday afternoon. Under the guidance of a club member and under the control of the range master, the visitors visitors were given a demonstration demonstration of shooting and also tried their hand at shooting. Demonstrations were given in trap shooting, the loading and firing of muzzle loaders, pistol practice and small bore shooting. On display in the clubhouse a display of weapons was shown and two members demonstrated equipment for reloading shotgun shells and rifle cartridges. Anyone interested in joining the club should visit the club for further information. Take Hwy. 115 to Kirby, turn west at the lights, drive 3.3 km and watch for the club's sign at the gate.
