Scouts Sponsor Music and Magic Night Judge Speaks to Rotarians During Law Week Family Court Judge Richard Donald was guest speaker last Thursday at the regular meeting of the Bowmanville Rotary Club. Judge Donald was speaking during Community Justice Week on the topic of "Justice, a Shared Responsibility". The family court judge discussed the role of volunteers who are working in the field of justice today. He also reminded his audience that it is the duty of citizens to establish the laws they want through their elected officials and public servants. Spring Bulb Festival Features 80,000 Fresh Blooms at Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village A Grade 11 student at Bowmanville High School has won a business essay writing contest sponsored by District 707 of Rotary International. A total of 63 clubs between Belleville and Kingston were eligible to enter contestants in the competition. Mary Ann Van Dyk, winner for the district, is shown here with Rotary president Paul Morris (left) and Rex Walters, chairman of the vocational services committee. Her essay investigated refund policies among stores in Bowmanville. It was based on a case history assigned to all competitors in the Grade 11 and 12 competition. The Town of Newcastle also claimed second and third place in the essay competition. Dan Corwell and Sandra Avery, both of Courtice Secondary School were in second and third place. "Uncle Keith" entertained local Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides and Brownies at an evening of entertainment held Thursday, April 21, at Bowmanville's Waverley Public School. The evening of music and magic, and all-round fun include a sing-along and a Clown as well as the magic show.
