6 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, June 22,1983 Section Two NESTLETON CAESAREA On Sunday at noon a birthday and father's day celebration was held for George Bowers of Nestleton - who will be 80 years old on June 22 - and "hosted" by the family - held at the lovely home of Arnold and Jean williams, Nestleton. Some 46 relatives were present to wish George the best- the immediate family - wife Ella Bowers, Dorothy Chapman and family, New Liskeard, Arnold and Jean Williams Williams and family, Nestleton, Helen Vine and family, Blackstock, Constable Jerry Bowers, Peterborough, Earl Bowers at home, Ralph and Lucille Bowers and family, Tyrone, Bert and Marilyn Bowers and family of Oshawa, and Avelyn Williams, Nestleton. Many grandchildren grandchildren and great grandchildren were present as well. George was the recipient of a very comfortable recliner chair from the family - and a real "festive" party with all the trimmings. We from this area wish George many more interesting years within our midst. Callers to help George Bowers celebrate on Sunday afternoon were: Mrs. Frances Sutton, daughter Joyce and Ken Gray of Orono, Fred and Mabel Dayes of Black- stock, Harry and Bea Lynch, Lindsay. "Warmest Congratulations" Congratulations" to the Port Perry Star for winning several National awards in the recent competition sponsored by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association. A splendid weekly paper - well put together - and yours truly looks forward to reading each edition with pleasure and catching catching up on the latest Hie last dance of the Caesarea Youth Club was held Friday evening, June 10th - a very warm night and attendance was smaller than usual. Winners of the spot dance were Usa Murray and David Akkerman and Stephen Seacock won the draw. Dances are held every 2nd and 4th Friday in the month and youngsters youngsters attend from many communities. Mothers act as chaperones. We commend the youngsters youngsters for their efforts - in organizating a "teen town club" and getting it off the ground - they are learning the art of dancing and also the social aspect of this twice monthly activity is important. Pop and chips are sold to make extra money. For fun and a great time - attend the next party - Friday, June 24. Let us give the kids some encouragement encouragement in their venture! For publicity cal* Darryl Bradt - ph. 966- 4660. The Nestleton Presbyterian Presbyterian Ladies Aid met in the Church hall in June with the president Dorothy Lee presiding. She opened with a welcome, welcome, a poem, a hymn and the Lordis Prayer repeated in unison. The president in charge of the Devotional read a portion of the third chapter of Coloss- ians. Commentary "Listening for specific criticism" from "These Days" booklet. Secretary Secretary Mrs. R. Davison read minutes, correspondence correspondence and financial report. Flea market plans were completed. The second quilt displayed displayed to be finished next week. Cards were signed for the ill and birthday greetings extended to members present with birthdays in June. The Roll Call was answered with a JBible verse or a poem. The programme included readings of interest by various members: Mesdames H. McLaughlin, McLaughlin, G. Wolfe, L. Shaw, F. Dayes, and D. Vivian. Meeting closed with a hymn and Mizpah Benediction. A lovely lunch was served by Mrs. W. Magill and assistant, and a special time enjoyed, Mrs. G. Thompson voiced the appreciation to all.
