Standings Venezia Tyrone C&C Motors Anonymous Youngs Tom's & Sons My Apothecary Kings Garden Memorial Park Northcutt-Elliott Village Restaurant Independent The twelve teams of Newcastle Newcastle Ladies' Slow Pitch held a very successful tournament at Memorial Park in Bowmanville Bowmanville on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11. Hie tournament consisted of sixteen invited teams from as far west as Toronto and north west to Uxbridge, with the rest being from surrounding areas. The weatherman certainly helped by giving one of the best weekends yet. There were four divisions in the tournament, The "C" and "D" division playoffs were held Sunday at 3 p.m., with Connaught Blue of Oshawa winning the "C" trophy over B. J. Donuts of Port Perry. The "D" division winners were Whitby Midas over Curleys. At 4:30 the "B" division S ame was held at the south lamond with My Apothecary and Kings Gardens going into an extra inning to break a tie. My Apothecary emerged victorious. victorious. Molson's had contributed M.V.P. awards for one person off each playoff team and also a trophy for the four winning teams. The Newcastle Ladies' Slow Pitch League gave away prize money for A, A-runner-up, B, C and D winners. ine weekend was a very successful one for the league, and although everyone was very competitive on the fields it was team work with "rivals" In the food booth and in the planning of a great tournament. un the Saturday evening a "full house" attended a SO's dance in the clubhouse, music was supplied by B. Tomkins of Orono, A big round of applause applause is due to the executive picked to run this tournament as it shows only a few can do a lot, if we all help.
