OUR REGULAR PRICE 2.44 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, August 17,1983 13 Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Party Enjoyed On Friday afternoon with beautiful weather prevailing - the residents residents of the Port Perry Nursing Home - accompanied accompanied by their nurses - were treated to a lawn party at the lovely home of Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton. The event was sponsored by the Pine Ridge Garden Club and after some entertainment and relaxation in the sun - refreshments were served by Garden Club members, bringing to a close a meaningful informal occasion for the residents. We congratulate Bernice Mairs on being awarded first prize on her fine vegetable garden and second prize on her flowers. One of the many features of the Pine Ridge Garden Club is awarding prizes annually for the best effort put forth by the membership. Wedding of Interest On Saturday, August 6, 1983, Bob and Marge France, Scugog Point, attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Laurie Anne France of Whitby who became the bride of Robert Owens of Pickering. The setting setting for the lovely event • was Scarborough Chapel civic Centre with twenty-five relatives and friends present. The reception and dinner was held at Deer Park Inn, Stouffville. "Warmest "Warmest Wishes" for much happiness. Emerson-Creed R.eUnion Held Thé Emerson and Creed families had an informal re-union at Emerson's Beach on Sat. August 13th with between thirty and forty family members on hand from a wide area to enjoy this yearly event. A great family get-to-gether! Malcolm called on Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Ford of Toronto on Tuesday on their way to Simcoe to visit son Barry and Joan Malcolm. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Van Nest, Brantford on their way home Thursday. Norman Wilson of Duntroon, who has been holidaying with the Sam Cawkers of Scugog Point Rd., returned home on Wednesday after a period of many activities visiting relatives and friends in bowmanville, Oshawa, Toronto and Nestleton area. We shall miss her very much - she is excellent and entertaining entertaining company to say the least! Grant and Merna Cawker and Cathy, Oshawa, "hosted" a fine birthday party for yours truly this past week with all the trimmings. Sister Norma and "my better half" Sam were guests. Weekend guests at the Cawker farmstead were son Ralph Cawker, Toronto, Sylvia Cawker and Chandre from Scarborough. Chandre is staying for a holiday before the school activity gets underway. Sam and Mabel Cawker enjoyed an evening with Robt and Marg France this past week at their lovely home at Scugog Point. Caesarea Community Church A very interesting service at Caesarea Community Church Sunday morning with many visitors welcomed. Rev. W.H. Crawford, D.D. rem- insced about past endeavours in other countries and used as he sermon topic "Who, are called God's Children"? based primarily on John centred mainly around verse 12. Mrs. G. Cameron soloist sang the familiar sacred number "this is my Father's World" with much feeling accompanied by organist Mrs. Crawford. Next Sunday at 11 a.m. A concerted effort is being made by the minister to attract the local people to the services. Do try to attend - you will be - pleased with the fine services and the friendliness friendliness of those present. Keep in mind the vacation Bible School held at the Caesarea Community Centre -f or two weeks - Mon. August August 15 to 26. Mondays through Fridays - time 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Take the children. Happy Event Calvin and Yvonne Holland, Bowmanville, are the proud parents of a fine baby boy - Craig Brett - a little brother for Chad, bom Saturday August 6 in Bowmanville Bowmanville Hospital. Grandma Neta Fish has been assisting her daughter- in-law for some time before the birth of the baby and her husband. Grahame Fish has been spending weekends in Bowmanville. Our warmest congratulations congratulations to Calvin and Yvonne! Also to grandparents grandparents Neta and Grahame. Next week as usual for a good time. Get Well Adele Pedzikowski of Caesarea is still in Port Perry Hospital improving, improving, waiting to have surgery.
