•l \ Youngest Rider at Blackstock Section Two The Canadian Statesman, Bowrnanville, August 31. 1983 THOMAS WILLIAM JOHNSON Employed by the Canadian National Railways for over 40 years as a C.N.R. section supervisor in Port Hope, Pickering, Belleville and Bowrnanville, Thomas William Johnson, passed away on Sunday, August 21st, 1983, in Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for one month. Born and educated in Pickering he was the son of John and Sophia Stewart Johnson. He was married May 21st, 1932 to Annie Bradford. A resident at 22 Prince Street, Bowrnanville for 27 years, he had previously resided resided at 190 Duke Street, Bowrnanville, for 18 years. Retired for 16 years, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Employees. Employees. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. George Peebles (Nancy) of Pickering, a son Robert, of Oshawa, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Morris Funeral Chapel with the Reverend A. E. Haldenby officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons Tom, Kirk, Timothy Peebles, and Brian Johnson, and nephews Don Scott and Vic Dingman. Interment Bowrnanville Cemetery. William McCartney (Debra) of Uxbridge, four grandchildren, grandchildren, Trina and David Torrance, and Nicole and Jamie McCartney, two brothers, Jack of Oshawa, and Paul of London. Mr. Parker was at Morris Funeral Chapel. Complete service was held on Saturday, August 13, followed by cremation. Memorial donations to the Heart Fund would be appreciated. WILLIAM GEORGE PARKER William George Parker died at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on August 12,1983. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Parker, he was born in London, Ontario, on March 14, 1927. He married the former Reva Bates in Bowrnanville on February 11,1950 and resided in Bowrnanville for a few years before moving to Oshawa 30 years ago. He worked at General Motors for 31 years. He was a Cub Master and member of District Staff for the Boy Scouts until illness forced him to give it up in the late 60's. He was also a member of Legion Branch 178 and Past President of Oshawa St. Andrew's Society. He was pre-deceased by a son William Kevin, a brother Peter, and a sister Peggy. Daughter of William E. Gilbank and Eliza Anne Weatherilt Gilbank, she was born in Clarke Township and educated at Starkville Public School. In March, 1944, she married Clarence W. Allin. Previously residing in Orono, she had resided on Centre Street for 26 years, and on Scugog Street for 13 years, in Bowrnanville. Mrs. Allin was a member of Orono United Church. Surviving are her sisters Berniece (Mrs. Clarence Trigg), Scugog St., Bowman- ville, Iva (Mrs. Henry Clarke), Binbrook and a brother Percy Gilbank, Hamilton. Services were held at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowrnanville, on Friday, with the Reverend John Peters officiating. Pallbearers were nephews Glenn Prout, Keith Rowe, Roland Gilbank, Bob Gilbank, Bill Gilbank and Vic Nashby. Interment Orono Cemetery. CLAUDE BRYANT SMITH In poor health more or less since he was nine years old, Claude Bryant Smith, aged 78, passed away on Monday, August 15th, 1983 in Oshawa General Hospital. The son of the late Fred W. and Ella Smith, he was born and educated at Enniskillen. For the past 10 years and three months he had resided at Oshawa General Hospital and had resided previously at Strathaven Nursing Home and Enniskillen. He was a member of Enniskillen United Church and a member of the choir. As a hobby he had repaired watches and clocks. In 1926 he had been run over by a car which contributed to his poor health. Surviving are his sisters Helena (Mrs. Cecil Rahm) Bowrnanville, Marjorie (Mrs. Harold Ormiston) R.R, 6, Bowrnanville and Wilbert Smith, Oshawa. Funeral services were conducted by the Reverend Maggs of Oshawa General Hospital at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowrnanville on Thursday. Mrs. J. Albert Cole presided at the chapel organ. Pallbearers were Lloyd Beech, Clifford Smith, Herman Flee, Stan Gray, Kenneth Smith and Ivan Ormiston, Among the floral tokens received was a tribute from Enniskillen United Church.
