Congratulations, boys! Mrs. Katherine Bumie and Merlin Bailey of London picked up Howard Bailey of Kitchener Kitchener enroute and were all Thanksgiving weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey and Tara. Cecil and Evelyn Hamilton spent Thanksgiving weekend with Joe and Mae (Werry) Edwards at Brighton. On Monday, they travelled on to Hastings and visited Mae and Charlie Wetherald, Cecil's cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Primmer of Hamilton were Thanksgiving weekend guests of the Hector Shortridge's and Fank Bailey's. Mrs. Delma Cunningham, Cunningham, Toronto, spent several days with her cousin Noreen Malcolm. Registration for Blackstock Boys and Girls Minor Hockey will take place at the arena on Wed. Oct. 19th. Mrs. Alma Taylor recently spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Anson Taylor at their country home in Muskoka. They enjoyëd the beautiful fall colours immensely. Thanksgiving Day guests with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Malcolm were David and Mary Lou Kellogg of Welcome. Marie and Cecil Gibson Gibson hosted a family gathering when Marie's eight brothers and two sisters and their spouses attended on Sunday. It is such a rare event for the entire family to be together at one time that many family pictures were taken. A good turnout attended attended the Mission Festival at the United Church on Sunday evening. The church was colourfully decorated and most attending attending wore gay costumes. The evening began with a dessert of tropical fruit, loaves and Hawaiin drink. Doreen Van Camp was the capable M.C for the programme programme of several numbers from the Sunday Sunday School. The Blackstock Curling Curling Executive met at the home of the president- Neil McLaughlin on Wednesday evening, Plans were made for the opening of the new Curl ing Season with a fun time on Nov. 7th. There are openings in Men's, Ladies and Mixed Curling Curling - If interested call Neil McLaughlin, David Larmer, Sharon Wilson or Gerald Kelly. Rates will remain the same as last years. Plans were made for the Davidson Mixed Bonspiel which will be held on November 26. Harold and Dorothy Martyn were pleased to have a visit with Roger and Ethel Dorrell of Mor- risburg while attending the Fallfest Square Dance Festival at Kemp- tville College on Saturday. Saturday. The Blackstock Women's Institute met in the community hall on Oct. 5th, with a dessert lunch. Beth Schryburt entertained entertained with a look at the suffragette movement in Manitoba which took place shortly after the turn of the century. Beth has a role in the upcoming upcoming "What Glorious Times They Had" with the Durham Shoestring Performers. Minutes were read and adopted and the treasurer's report received. Mrs. Sleep and Mrs. Bradburn are conducting a short course Wed. Oct. 26 in the church at 9:30 "More Sense than Dollars." On Nov. 9, the W.I. are sponsoring sponsoring an evening in Nestleton Hall "It's Your Nerves." Fun Fair will be held in Maple Grove on Oct. 18. The 4-H requested requested a donation and plans were made for catering to the Lion's Club. Mrs. Hoskin's group was responsible for the program on Crafts. Mrs. Carole Chorostecki and Mrs. E. McLaughlin demonstrated some quilting techniques. Mrs. Hoskin showed how to make place mats from cards. The meeting closed closed with O Canada. Nancy and Bob Bryans spent overnight at Bill and Orlee Bryans, Fenelon Falls and had Thanksgiving supper with Donna Lee and Tom Curlew, Jenny and Billy. On Monday, they helped Bob's Dad, Jim Bryans celebrate his 87th birthday birthday at George and Marg Bryans, Stewart, Rick and Greg at Cameron. On Tuesday, the Bryan's family- Nancy, Bob and Steve, Gord, Deb and Leanna and Rick Alpe celebrated Patti's 25th birthday at the farm in Egypt. Happy Happy Birthday, Patti. The third meeting of the Blackstock No. 2 4-H group was held on October October 12, at the Blackstock United Church. The name that we decided was "Adventurous "Adventurous Appetizers." At this meeting we talked about food from Eastern Europe. The foods which we made and tried at the meeting were: Borsch, Breaded pork chops ; Vegetable- macaronic casserole and plum dumplings, Our next meeting will be Oct. 19 when we will talk about Italian, Greek and Middle Middle East foods. -- Natalie Green, reporter.
