Karen has been and will continue to be a patient in Wellesley Hospital for several more weeks. She has just recently had surgery to replace her right hip-ball-joint and expects to have a similar operation on the other one this week. One cannot but admire our 18 year old niece's cheery and optimistic outlook on life despite the physical pain and handicap that has been her lot over the past several years. Karen has had to use crutches for the past four years at least to get around with. I'm sure she would love to get cards to encourage her during her therapy and convalescence. (Room 465). Karen is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Werry of Sudbury. Roy is a former Enniskillen boy. A family reunion of the Henderson family was held this weekend at the home of Mrs. Gladys Henderson of Bethany with members of the family congregating there from Havelock, Toronto and Yelverton. Gordon is the father of Mrs. George Phyles/McCullough of Yelverton. A strong contingent of music lovers from this community joined ranks with the 135-140 folks present on Saturday evening at Pontypool Community Centre. The occasion was the Nostalgia Night sponsored annually by Jeanne and Wes McMahon of Bethany - a musical night devoted to the tunes of yesteryear from their extensive collection of records and tapes. Of special interest and of wide enjoyment by those present was the live band comprising past musicians of the former Jack Galloway band who provided a collection of old favourites - including "Marie". Marie was a special favourite of the late Jack Galloway and you could count on hearing it at least once an evening on every dance occasion "ad nausum". Among those who contributed to the band were Carlos Tamblyn, Bob Sisson, Dave Masters, Carmen White and James Lowery. Hope we've forgotten no one! Guests were present from hether and yon all over Central Ontario - Oshawa and nearly every local community. Even Saskatchewan and England. It was a mutual pleasure for all of us as well to renew old acquaintances with folks we haven't seen for months or years. We express special thanks to Wes and Jean and the band for providing such an enjoyable musical evening.
