Donald Welsh, President, George Carson, Manager and Mrs. Donna Scott from Durham Central Agricultural Society, Orono, attended as delegate, the annual meeting of District No. 4 of Agricultural Agricultural Societies of Ontario. The meeting was held at the Provincial Provincial Government Building, Lindsay on October 27, with morning and afternoon sessions. Mr. and Mrs. James Grunerud, St. Clowd, Minn., U.S.A. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morton, Kendal and other relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Lome Bowins have returned home after visiting visiting her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sanderson, Woodstock for several days. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaters, Leskard were Mrs. D. Shepherd, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Shepherd, all from Beamsville, Irene Lambie and Tom Sloan, Whitby, Mr. and Mrs. K. Bratton, Grimbsy and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Lammers, London. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris, Kirby, were last Wednesday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morton, Kendal. Mr. and Mrs, Murray Brown and girls, Peterborough, were Sunday dinner guests of her parents, the 0. Challices. Sympathy of the community to the family and relatives of the late Mrs. Geraldine McDonald of Leskard. Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Taylor, Scarborough, Scarborough, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Doyle, Kingston. Mr. and Mrs. E. Stapleton were last Tuesday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gordon, Port Hope. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stapleton and family, By Isabelle Challice Oshawa, Mrs. Mary J. Morris, Mr. John Robinson were all guests at the Everett Staple- ton's for the occasion of John's birthday on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. Stapleton were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Lena Clysdale, Newton- ville, and attended the church anniversary. Presbyterial Fall Rally The Fall Rally was held this year in Blackstock United Church with approximately 180 U.C.W. members and guests in attendance. Eileen McLaughlin, president of Blackstock U.C.W. brought greetings to all and Mrs. Bob Anne Dickson, president of Oshawa Presbyterial Women introduced the executive. Several excellent speakers on the morning agenda included Miss Linda Rivard, from South Oshawa Community project; Mrs. Evelyn Redpath gave a report on V.I.M. (Ventures in Mission) ; and Betty Turcotte gave a very inspirational message on "Discipleship." Greetings were brought from Rev. Dale Davis, Black- stock on behalf of the host church, and Rev. B. Batstone from Oshawa Presbyterial. The overflow crowd were divided for dinner and part of the crowd were fed at the neighboring Anglican church. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the church chimes, and the Christian fellowship of the noon hour. A lively sing song commenced commenced the afternoon sessions and roll call was answered by quite a goodly number of U.C.W.'s and the worship service service was given by Enniskillen. Tyrone U.C.W. ladies introduced introduced the guest speaker of the afternoon Mrs. Evelyn Locke, Springfield. Locke, Springfield. St. Saviours Church News Our thanks to the Rev. Allan Langley, Bowmanville and Mr. Oakley Peters, Newcastle for taking the services today (Sunday), while our rector is away. The Bishops breakfast is this Saturday, Nov. 5 at 8 a.m. in Oshawa Holiday Inn. Last Sunday, October 23, Mr, and Mrs. Roy Taylor, Kirby and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reid, Kirby transferred transferred their church membership to Kirby United Church from Orono United Church. Mr. and Mrs. James Gruerud, St. Clowd, Minn., U.S.A. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morton, Kendal, were Monday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris and Charles, Kirby. Those in attendance from Orono area at the Presbyterial Rally last Tuesday in Black- stock were Lois Brown, Francis Sutton, Margaret Gunter, Joan Hodge, I. Challice, Challice, Olive Millson and Gladys Gambsy. Orono United Church News The church enjoyed a very large attendance on Sunday morning to celebrate our 121st anniversary. The beautiful flowers were placed in loving memory of the late Mrs. Geraldine McDonald of Leskard. Rev. John Peters, Trinity • United Church, Bowmanville, was the guest speaker, and the special music was supplied by the "Horseless Carriage- men," Oshawa. This is a large group of men (40) dedicated to Barbershopper singing and bringing an excellent choice of music which was much enjoyed enjoyed by the large crowd. They were served a delicious lunch downstairs, following the service. Rev. Peters brought a very enjoyable story to the children about a little stone in your shoe, and how it seems to grow much larger as you walk. Mr. James Brownlee gave the scripture readings. There is but one reminder left of the 100 years past and that is the large chestnut tree at the corner of the church property. This tree was planted planted in 1862 and still gives the little folk many fun filled hours, gathering chestnuts, and also the squirrels their winter hoards. Our annual turkey supper was a sell -out success and we were sorry to turn away people at the door. Our grate? ful thanks to all who generously generously gave of their time and talents to make this another memorable event of the community. Mrs. Gladys Brown entertained at the organ before each setting and this was much enjoyed by all. Visitors were present from Toronto, Oshawa and neighboring neighboring communities. Birthdays celebrated this week, Norm Grant, Oct. 30, and Olive Millson. Bible Study and Hymn sing this Thursday night, 7 p.m. in the Friendship Room. Kirby U.C.W. are preparing for their annual church bazaar this Saturday, Nov. 5, 2 - 4 p.m. in Orono Church main hall. Remember this coming Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and the annual Cenotaph Cenotaph service is 2:30 p.m. Remembrance Day Nov. 11,1943. Leskard News We are sorry to report Dorothy Holmes is a patient in Bowmanville hospital. Her many friends wish her a speedy recovery. A good crowd was in attendance attendance at our annual church tea and mini bazaar, on Saturday, Oct. 29. Mrs. Rita Jonah and Mrs. Violet Sutcliffe attended the Presbyterial Rally, in Black- stock last Tuesday.
