Jim visited his many relatives while in British Columbia as well as sightseeing. Mr. and Mrs. Herb De Vries, Troy and Tracey, Newcastle visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Todd, Scott, Jamie and Billy. On Friday evening, Tammy Farrow, Cathy Todd, Paula Robinson, Cheryl Robinson, Karen Kennedy of Kendal and Sharon and Nadine Stapleton of Newtonville, were among the many girls who took part in the 4-H Homemaking Achievement program held at the Kirby Public School. This unit was "Ontario Heritage", a program on cooking. On Monday, Mrs. John Windatt was a luncheon and afternoon guest of Mr. and Mrs. Art King and Laura, Whitby. Shiloh U.C.W. Meeting On Wednesday, November 16th, 21 members of Shiloh U.C.W. met at the noon hour at the Canadian Legion Hall in Port Hope for a delicious smorgasbord dinner. As usual, we found this an enjoyable enjoyable setting for our Christmas dinner. Following our meal, everyone everyone travelled to the home of Mrs. Gloria Todd for our meeting. President Ruth Andrews was in charge and opened the meeting by having everyone join in singing the Thanksgiving Thanksgiving hymn "We plough the fields and scatter." The Bible reading was given by Clara Souch after which Ellen Farrow gave a devotional on "Thankfulness" followed by a prayer. Reports were read by Gloria Todd and Margaret Todd. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Jenny Rypstra, Gloria Todd and Mary-Lou Fonk for their birthdays this month. Mary Caswell reported to us on the cheese for sale from the Central Cheese Factory at Stirling. Order forms were handed out and these should be returned to Janet Lynn by Saturday, November 26th or they may be left with Bernice Stark. The list of officers for the next two years was given by Bernice Stark. They are President Janet Lynn, Vice- President Ruth Robinson, Recording Secretary Gloria Todd, Treasurer Margaret Todd, Corresponding Secretary Secretary Mary-Lou Fonk, Sunshine Sunshine and Parsonage Committee Committee (combined) Ellen Farrow, Isabelle Trim and Mary Caswell. Congratulations to Margaret Todd as this will be her 23rd year as Treasurer. Marg is doing such an excellent excellent job that nobody is anxious to replace her. A Spring Bazaar was discussed discussed and it will be held on Saturday, May 5th in the church basement. Edna Dobson announced that there will be a bus trip to Cullen Gardens, Whitby on Monday, December 5th. Our Christmas meeting will be held at the home of Mary Traicus on Wednesday afternoon, afternoon, December 14th. We are asked to bring a small gift to be given to the nursing home patients for Christmas, marked marked for either man or woman as well as our usual exchange of gifts among the members. An apple contest was conducted conducted by Edna Dobson and won by Bernice Stark, following following which a small auction sale took place. Cookies and coffee were then served by the hostess hostess Gloria and her group. Ken Wright Haulage Selects Ken Wright Haulage Selects were really flying high this weekend bringing home twr- more wins and two shutouts for Sarah Couch and Brent Knapp. On Thursday, Nov. 17, the novice selects"defeated Newcastle Newcastle 4 - 0. Goals were scored by Collin Taggart, Richard Bateman, Bruce Harnum and Steve Deblois, assisted by Steve Deblois, Chad Vander- ende and Richard Bateman. On Saturday, Nov. 19, Ken Wright Haulage defeated Orono Selects at Orono Arena 6 to 0. The team is really getting it altogether now, especially our defense. Goals were scored by Collin Taggart, Taggart, Tracy Lemke (two), Chris McCarthy (two) and Richard Bateman, assisted by Chris McCarthy (two), Gary Adams, Bruce Harnum (three), Richard Bateman (two), Steve Deblois and Jeff White.
