Three easy to follow, crunchy, real chocolate Obituaries LEWIS WILFRED BUNDLE Relatives, friends and neighbors were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of a highly respected and well- known citizen, Lewis Wilfred Rundle, at his home, in Bowmanville, on Friday, November 11th, 1983, in his 70th year. Born in Bowmanville, he was the son of Frank and Edra Rundle. He was educated at S.S. No. 3 Darlington and Bowmanville High School. On October 14th, 1939, he was married to Helene Monica Hynds. A resident of 6 Argyle Street, Bowmanville, for 44 years, he had previously resided at R.R. 2, Bowmanville (BaseLine). He had been employed at Vanstone Mill, Collacutt Coach Lines, Brown's Bread, A&P Store and General Motors of Canada, retiring from G.M. seven years ago. A member of Trinity United Church, he was also a member of the Bowmanville Badminton Club, and a life member of the Bowmanville Tennis Club. Lew was very enthusiastic about outdoor sports, skiing, skating, cycling, swimming, cards and gardening. Always congenial, he was always interested in his fellow man. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Helene, daughters Lynda (Mrs. Lloyd . McRobbie), Betty-lou (Mrs. Don Smith), grandchildren Todd, Lance, Jamie McRobbie, Dana and Brandie Smith, brothers Don, Bowmanville and Rae, and sister Helen Trewin, both of Oshawa. Funeral services were held on Monday at the Morris Funeral Chapel. The Reverend John Peters officiated and the organist was Helen McDonald.' Pallbearers were Messrs. Mike and Mark Marchant, Leslie Welsh, Lloyd Smith, Farewell Blackburn and Frank Mohun. Many beautiful floral tributes were received in his memory attesting to the esteem in which the deceased was held, including offerings from U.A.W. Local 222, Oshawa; Bowmanville Tennis Club, Bowmanville Badminton Club, Staff of A&P No. 160, Oshawa; and Mountain Pools, Oshawa. Cream peanut butter and shortening together; beat in granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat in egg. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in peanuts. Drop from small spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 375°F, (190°C) oven 12 to 14 minutes. Cool. CRISPY CHOCOLATE GRANOLA BARS (Makes one jelly roll pan) l'/z cups all purpose four 375 mL cup FRY'S COCOA 75 mL cup soft butter or margarine 250 mL cup firmly packed brown sugar 250 mL egg teaspoon vanilla 5mL cup granola-type cereal 250 mL Sift together flour and cocoa. Cream butter; beat in sugar. Blend in egg and vanilla gradually stir in sifted dry ingredients. Stir in granola. Spread batter in a greased 15xl0x 3 /4 inch (2L) (38.5x25.6x2 cm) jelly roll pan. SMITH Born and educated at Cowanville, the death of Elva K. Smith, aged 79, occurred suddenly at Oshawa General Hospital, on Tuesday, October 25th, 1983. Daughter of Charles and Alma Cowan, she was married in 1921 to Roy Smith. A resident of Oshawa, at 212 Ritson Road for 18 years, and Port Whitby for 20 years, she had previously resided in the Newtonville area. She had been employed as a nurse's aid at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, retiring 15 years ago. Mrs. Smith was a member of the United Church. She had spent the war years working in the Ajax Munitions Factory. Factory. Left to mourn her passing arc her husband Roy, son Carlos, grandchildren Evelyn and Roy Smith. The Reverend Linda King officiated at the funeral services services held on Thursday, Pallbearers were Messrs, Lionel Deamond, Edgar Mill- son, Wayne Lowery, Mel Switzer, Bert Stapleton and son Carlos. Mi >/4 CHOCOLATE REFRIGERATOR COOKIES (Makes about 5 dozen) 2Vz cups all purpose flour 625 mL cup FRY'S COCOA 75 mL teaspoon baking soda 1 mL cup soft butter or margaine 250 mL cup firmly packed brown sugar 150 mL cup corn syrup 125 mL egg teaspoon vanilla 2mL cup chopped nuts 175 mL Sift together flour, cocoa and baking soda. Cream butter; beat in sugar. Stir in corn syrup. Beat in egg and vanilla. Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Stir in nuts. Shape dough in rolls, 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter; wrap in waxed paper. Chill several hours or overnight. Cut into thin slices and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
