Cobourg opened the scoring halfway through the first period and held the lead until the. eight minute mark of the second period when Martin d'Entremont was "Johnny on the Spot" tipping in a relay from Shawn McFadyen i and Jeff Flintoff to lie the score at one. Cobourg scored their second goal near the end of the period and held-off numerous scoring opportunities by the Toros in the third period to pick up the win. Except for a lot of hard luck around the Cobourg net, the Toros could easily have won by four goals with the hustle and hard work that they showed showed in this game. On Saturday^ Dec. 3rd at Darlington, the Mighty Bulls won a 2 - 1 tilt against the Trenton Majors. Ryan Putnam opened the scoring at the 1:00 minute mark converting a Jeff Flintoff Flintoff shot past the Trenton goalie. Near the end of the first period, Martin d'Entremont d'Entremont and Jeff Flintoff set-up Shawn McFadyen to put Bowmanville up by two. The Toros had many chances to score, but just couldn't finish off their plays around the net. Trenton scored with just over a minute to go in the game, but the Toros defense stood their ground and held on for the win. Good Effort Boys. On Sunday, Dec. 4th the Toros played the Little N.H.L. Bruins at the Children's Arena and came home with another 2 -1 triumph. Matthew Doughty opened the scoring with 1:31 remaining remaining in the first period firing a low drive past the Bruin goalkeeper goalkeeper after being set-up by Corey Chambers. The Bruins scored the only goal of the second period to lie the game at one, but once again, the Toros could easily have been up by five if they had any luck at all around the opposition's goal. Midway through the third period, Corey Chambers oulraced a Bruin defender and blasted a bullet by Oshawa's cage cop to put Bowmanville in front. Martin d'Enlremont and Matthew Doughty dug the puck out of a scramble deep in the Toros end to set Corey up. For the first time this year the Toros were consistent for a three game weekend and showed overall team hustle and good team play. Congratulations, you earned it! The boys played very well and it was not until the second period that Omcmec scored their first goal. Robert Romano played well in goal. Penalties resulted in three Omemee goals but Bowmanville Bowmanville did not slop trying, they passed well and the Toros lone goal, scored by Michael Col- borne, was the result of passes from Jim Pithie and fan Knight. Toros 3 Red Wings 2 It had been a long time since the Toros had beaten the Red Wings and this was the right time to do it. The Red Wings went ahead on a power play opportunity which was bad for the Toros because this meant we had to win, a tie would mean elimination. elimination. Andrew Day tied the score. When Jeff Rohr fed a puck into the slot after receiving receiving a pass from Nicky Dennis. The Red Wings went ahead again and it stayed that way until Michael Colbourne scored, with the assists going to Paul Hindman and Ricky Dennis. The action after this was fast with the Toros putting on a lot of pressure but not managing to score. With two minutes to go, Nicky Dennis scored an unassisted goal to break the lie and win the game. Little Britain 6 Bowmanville 4 Penalties put the Toros three goals behind in the first four minutes of the game but then Ian Knight and Jim Pithie combined to score the nicest goal that Bowmanville has scored in a long time. Jim passed the pUck from the side of the net to Ian Knight who was on the inner hash marks and he drove the puck into the net. Little Britain scored a short- handed goal but the Toros came straight back when Marc Pierce drove the puck into the opponents' net on a shot from the blue line. The score was now 4 - 2. A scramble around the net and another short handed goal made the score 6 - 2. Phillip Green played a good game and it was one of his passes to Jeremy Laird that made the score 6 - 3. Ian Knight finished the scoring on an assist from Jim Pithie. The defence moved the puck well in this game and the forwards passed a little but they did not click, with a little luck we could have won. Keep trying lads, you are getting better. Toros I Cobourg4 in an entertaining fast game at Darlington the Pee Wee 2's lost to Cobourg. There was no score until near the end of the second period when Nicky Dennis put the Toros ahead. Cobourg scored four unanswered unanswered goals in the third period. The Toros just ran out of energy in this period having played three games the day before. According to one parent this was the Toros best game of the year. There were no stars, every boy did his best.
