Several Enjoy Trip to Niagara TYRONE NEWS (Intended for last week) Did you notice in last week's Statesman 'Items of Interest' that Enniskillen Public School, our local elementary school, will hold its Christmas Concert at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14th. Prior to the concert a bake sale will be held from 6:30 to 7:15. About 45 folks enjoyed a day's outing by bus to Niagara-on-the-Lake and on to Niagara Falls, viewing the color-lit Falls by night. A craft show and sale was featured at the Shaw Festival Theatre complex where luncheon was enjoyed. A program of entertainment entertainment was included. Fifteen tables of euchre were in progress on Friday evening, December 2nd, with the following results: 1st Meta Swain, 2nd Laurrena Bright, 3rd Lorna Swain, 4th Hazel Murphy, 5th Anne Manns, 6th Ruby Prescott. The Second Advent Candle, signifying Peace, was lit by Elizabeth Drysdale. Flowers in the sanctuary were placed by the family in memory of James Woodley. On Sunday evening, December 4th, White Gift Presentation was combined with the Sunday School Christmas Concert. Mr. Doug Dewell, Oshawa, lifted the spirits of the audience with his classic piano music in readiness for the message of Christmas. Joined by organist Jacqueline Vaneyk, the accompanists coaxed the carollers to volumes of song not heard since last Christmas. Candle-bearing Sunday School children made a processional through a darkened sanctuary. Welcome in unison was tendered by the Kindergarten, class. The evening concluded with lunch and fellowship. On Monday, December 5, 1983, Tyrone United Church Women joined Enniskillen ladies for a Christmas luncheon in Enniskillen Church. Members of both groups took part in a Christmas program and fellowship. The busy ladies of Long Sault Club 50 did two large caterings recently. Blair Vaneyk was feted on Saturday evening on the occasion of his first quarter century. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. A. ValAIten'a, with a neighbor from Clinton, and Marilyn's grandmother, soon to return to Holland, visited Blair and Marilyn. Mr. and Mrs. P. Vaneyk enjoyed a busy visit with son Blain and daughter Dawn in Vancouver, B.C, last week.
