Meeting Eighteen ladies met at the Legion Hall in Port Hope on December thirteenth. This was the December meeting of the Newtonville Women's. Institute. Jean Dulton demonstrated gift wrapping. After singing Christmas carols Santa visited us and distributed gifts. A very nice meeting ended with Christmas cake and a cup of tea. United Church News At Newcastle United Church on New Year's Day, 1984, the choir sang Echo the Song. Rev. Donald Stiles preached the sermon, Planting Seeds on New Year's Day, based not only on scriptures but also on the Chinese proverb, All the flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today. Suggested seeds were change, hope and challenge. The Trillium Unit meets at two o'clock at the church on Thursday. The Official Board meets in the Board Room at the church on Wednesday, January 11. The Bowmanville Kinette Club made Christmas considerably brighter for the residents of Strathaven Strathaven Nursing Home who were unable to be with family or friends over the holiday. Each of them received a festively wrapped Christmas package containing specially selected gifts.
