Survived by his loving wife Viola, two sons and two daughters: Alex and wife, Lillian, of Edmonton, Mrs. Margaret Densmore and husband, Arthur, of Calgary, Mrs. Lois Campbell of Edmonton and Mr. John Wight of Hughenden; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Predeceased ■ by his parents, one brother and six sisters. Funeral services were to be held in Czar, Alberta, Wednesday, January 4, 1984, at 2 p.m., Gregory Funeral Home, Provost, in charge of arrangements. KENNETH REGINALD FLETCHER The death of Kenneth Reginald Fletcher, aged 88, occurred in Bowmanville on Friday, January Gth, 1984. He had been ill for eleven months with Altzheimer's disease. Born and educated in Bowmanville, Bowmanville, he was the son of Joseph C. and Margaret Fletcher. On August 19th, 1922, he , married Evelyn Queenie Fletcher. A resident of Bowmanville, at 252 King St. E., for over three years, he had previously resided at Ne wtonville, R. R. 5 Liberty Street and at 5th Concession and Harmony. Employed at General Motors, Oshawa, he had retired retired in 1961. On retirement he worked at market gardening. Mr. Fletcher was the first V.P., of the Bowmanville Curling Club and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the U.A.W. Local 222, a member of the Union Rod and Gun Club, and also served over 10 years on the Board of Education of Harmony Public School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman fisherman and was excellent at competitive trapshooting. In 1914 he enlisted with the 136th Battalion, arid was a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force sent to Vladivostok, Russia, in 1917. Survivors are his wife Queenie, sons Keith C. of Weston, Donald E. of Oshawa, and David A. of Morrice, Michigan. The Reverend Byron Yates officiated at the funeral service service held at St. John's Anglican Anglican Church, Bowmanville, on Monday. Pallbearers were Messrs. James Firth, Lucien Lambier and Brian Caswell. MRS. ETHEL GRACE PRESTON A resident of Bowmanville for fifty-four years, Mrs. Ethel Grace Preston, passed away at Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville, on Wednesday, January 4th, 1984, in her 96th year. Born and educated at Haydon, she was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Jane Gilders, she was the beloved wife of the late Howard Nichols and the late Stanley Preston. A member of Trinity United Church, and the Rcbckah Beehive Lodge, she was a devoted wife and mother, interested in her church, community and friends. She also took great pleasure in gardening. Mrs. Preston had also resided resided at Haydon, Courtice, Orillia and Toronto. Surviving are her daughter Violet Colwell, sons David and Douglas Preston, three grandchildren grandchildren and five great grandchildren. grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Morris Funeral Chapel, on Friday with the Reverend T. Smith officiating, Mrs. Rosemary Merkley was the soloist and Mrs. J. Albert Cole the organist.
