Bowmanville's 11 minor hockey association association teams pitted themselves themselves against their invited invited competitors and came away from the event with a total of eight wins. The BMHA entries lost a total of two games, and tied one. The Hockey Association Association estimates that total attendance was about 1,000 persons. Bowmanville's major atoms, selects, major pee wees, major bantams, bantams, bantam #2s, midgets, major midgets, and juveniles all won their games. Credit for much of the success of this annual hockey showcase also belongs to the many merchants and business business enterprises who helped to sponsor the event and the teams. Bowmanville's Buckham Transport Major Pee Wees defeated Trenton Trenton 9-0 in Saturday's Y oung Canada Day hockey action at the Darlington Sports Centre. First star in the game was goaltender Brian Stears, of Trenton, while Danny MacDonald was awarded the trophy for MVP on the Trenton team. The award for Bowmanville's most valuable player went to Tim Partridge, while Captain Dean Bunker collected the game trophy on behalf of Bowmanville. Making the presentations in this photo are Bruce Lush, president of the Bowmanville Minor Hockey Association, and Ron Bunker. The Walter Frank Major Midgets defeated Oshawa by a 11-4 tally Saturday evening during Young Canada Day hockey competition. Here, Pierre St. Amand receives his trophy as the star for the game, while Keith Hylton receives the award for Oshawa's MVP and Scott McLeod collects the MVP trophy for Bowmanville. The captain of the Bowmanville Bowmanville team, Brent Neill, received the game trophy on behalf of his team. The Bowmanville team is shown above after the match. K* i i j It was Bowmanville 6-0 over Oshawa in Saturday's Young Canada Day competition between Oshawa's Midget 2s and Bowmanville. Here, Captain Murray Henderson, of the Bowmanville Flying Dutchman Midgets receives the game trophy, while Dave Tuepah receives his award as Bowmanville's most valuable player. Paul Kamondy was MVP for Oshawa, while Paul Robichaud won the MVP honors for the game. Making the presentations were Bruce Lush, president of the BMHA, and John Cannings, a member of the BMHA executive. In the final game of Saturday's Young Canada Day hockey competition, competition, the St. Marys Cement Juveniles defeated their opposition from Trenton in a 6-2 score. Mike Simmon, of Acton, won the game's MPV award while Darren Bunker was selected as Bowmanville's most valuable player and Frank Katsilicris was the MVP for Acton. Making the presentations on behalf of the BMHA are: John Rice and A1 Cole. The minor bantams are sponsored by McGregor Hardware. The Bow. Novice Selects downed Port Hope 4-3.
