The Cartwright Snowmobile Snowmobile Club held a Poker Rally and supper afterward at the Nestle- ton Hall on Sunday afternoon and evening. The snowmobile trip was approximately sixty miles on a very cold sunny winter day. Several of our local ladies have been hospitalized. hospitalized. Mrs. Lome Hoskin underwent eye surgery last week at Oshawa Hospital and is home again. Jessie Gunter, Evelyn Hamilton Hamilton and Jennie Bailey are all in Port Perry Hospital. An Oshawa resident for most of his life, with five years spent in Woodville, he had resided at Hillsdale Manor the past five years. Son of the late Mr, and Mrs. James Gibson, he was born April 10,1904 in Oshawa, and was married here Feb. 23, 1927. Mr. Gibson served overseas during the war with the Royal Canadian Artillery. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, and the UAW Local 222, he worked at General Motors for 43 years. He had been a drummer in the General Motors Pipe Band and with the Sons of Ulster Flute Band. He was predeceased by four brothers, Oliver, Everett, : Eddie and Harold; and a sister, Mrs. Perce Wiltshire (Olga). ■' Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife, the former May Alexandra Lemon; two daughters, Mrs. Red Watson (Bernice) of Hampton, Mrs. Gordon Brown (Margaret) of Lindsay; a son, Cecil R. Gibson of Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. David Tonks (Emma) of Montreal, Mrs. Grant McMahon (Bernice) of California; three brothers, Norman and Cecil P. Gibson of Oshawa, Bernie Gibson of Guelph; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Mr, Gibson rested at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Oshawa. Service was held in the chapel on Monday, witli the Rev. A. HARVEY SANGUIN WIGHT Harvey Sanguin Wight, a long time and highly respected respected teacher and resident of the Hughenden district, passed away on Sunday, January 1st, 1984, in the Provost hospital. Mr. Wight, 91, was born in Bowmanville, in 1892, the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Eleanor Wight. He 'was predeceased by one brother and six sisters. Mr. Wight moved to Alberta in 1916 to pursue a 36 year career in the teaching profession after being educated in his home town and Peterborough Normal School. Until his retirement retirement in 1960, Mr. Wight taught in a number of schools in the Provost School Division: Division: Eastervale, Highland View, Rosyth, Hughenden, Sugar Bowl, Lakesend, Czar, Wheatridge, Cadogan and Provost. During the depression depression years he also farmed. In 1923 Mr. Wight became a founding member of the Alberta Wheat Pool, he was also awarded a life membership membership in the Alberta Teachers Association and was named a life member of the Red Cross Society and awarded a citation citation for his work. Mr. Wight attended church services in both the United and Lutheran churches in Hughenden and Czar and sang in the choirs. He was an active participant in the community, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. grandfather. He was akin to gentleness, gentleness, reverence, wisdom, truth and justice and was always steadfast in his ideals of a good life.
