Jodie has made three records with Milt Buckner, Illinois Jacques, Joe Jones. She is in the New Orleans Hall of Fame and previously appeared in a film with Burton Cummings, entitled Melanie. She performed at Jazz Festivals such as the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Sacramento, California Festival, Detroit Rennaissance Festival and sang with Clark Terry in the Nice Festival, France; appeared for 3 summers on the Rideau Ferry Festivals with Peter Appleyard; was featured singer on the Jazz Cruises to Bermuda and Nassau from New York and will be the featured singer in upcoming Bicentennial Celebrations in June. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm enjoyed a week's vacation in Florida recently with their grandsons Jeremy and Jason. Jason celebrated his 3rd birthday on Saturday evening with his grandparents in attendance - Mr. and Mrs. Alan Gundry of Barrie and Howard and Eileen Malcolm. The Malcolms were pleased to get a telephone call from Candy in Africa on Sunday, also her birthday. She is scheduled to return home next weekend. Sympathy is extended to Eileen Malcolm in the sudden passing of her uncle Mr. Bill Whittaker in a North Bay Hospital Saturday evening. Also to his sister Miss Betty Whittaker of Hamilton, his daughter Betty Ann Spence of Komax, B.C. and son Donald of Saudi Arabia and his wife of Temagami, Ont. The Yelverton United Church held their annual Congregational Meeting on Thursday evening following a pot luck supper. In the absence of our Minister, Mr. Denis Fransky, who had been rushed from his classes to Toronto General Hospital with what was later diagnosed as a painful kidney stone, Mr. Arthur Rowan, Clerk of Session, presided at the business session. Mr. Quentin Robinson was pressed into service to record the minutes in the absence of the Sect- Treasurer who was A.W.O.L. sunning his buns in Hawaii. The various reports were given by church officers - the U.C.W. Sunday School, Youth Group and Nomination Report and were accepted on a blanket motion with a few CKAR to Provide Music For Enniskillen Skaters CKAR Radio in co-operation with the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority are pleased to announce that on Sunday, January 29, 1984 CKAR Radio will be- in attendance at the Enniskillen Conservation area from 11 a.m. till dusk to provide skaters on the main pond with recorded music for their skating enjoyment. This is only one of many community oriented projects that CKAR plans to become involved in during 1984. It is hoped that many families will be able to come out to the Enniskillen Conservation area and take part not only in the skating but the tobogganing, cross country ski trails, and the hockey pond. Sleigh rides will be available for young and old alike for only 50 cents from 1 till 4 p.m. that day. As well the Enniskillen church women will be operating the snack bar from noon till 4 as part of the activities. The heated barn will be open for putting on skates or for just warming up from noon till four. Enniskillen Conservation area has plenty of free parking and there is no charge for skating, tobogganing, or use ot the cross country ski trails. The conservation area is located northwest - of Bowmanville on the 7th concession. To reach the area from Oshawa take Taunton Rd. East and follow the signs. It is well marked. Master Stephen Baker spent the weekend with his grandparents the Arthur Rowans, returning home on Sunday when they visited Elizabeth and Keith Baker and family in Etobicoke. On Saturday evening Corrie and Harvey Malcolm attended the mid-winter Dutch - Canadian dance held in the German Pavilion Club Lorelei in Oshawa.
