Photo by McRobbie LIBRARY LISTINGS Musical shows, heritage festivals and photographic exhibits with a Bicentennial flavor will be organized, thanks to grants from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Culture. The Honorable Susan Fish, Minister of Citizenship and Culture, has announced the first of a series .of "Celebration: Ontario" grants totalling $108,095 to 19 organizations throughout the province. "The projects are only a fraction of the diverse activity that will be occurring in all corners of the province during our Bicentennial," said Ms. Fish. "l am very pleased the celebration of our province's 200 years of growth and cultural enrichment will be presented in many unusual, innovative and entertaining ways." "Celebration: Ontario" is a special program of the Ministry of Citizenship and Culture. Using Wintario funds, the ministry will be providing grants to projects that have a significant artistic, heritage, cultural and/or multicultural theme. In the theatre grants category, $50,000 was awarded to the Autumn Angel Repertory in Toronto for a special production at Fort York about the American invasion of York in 1812. The Acorn Theatre Company in Peterborough was granted $3,000 to write, produce and tour an original play about the Barnardo children who settled in the The Council of Chinese Canadians in Ontario received $6,000 to organize a production, "New Year Heritage Celebration," to be held at Toronto's Ryerson Theatre in January.
