My name is Teri Keays and this is my little sister Rebecca Madelaine who celebrated her first birthday on February 10; 1984! Our proud parents are Kelly and Carol Keays of R.R. 6, Bowmanville. Celebrated Her First Birthday Senior Citizens Enjoy Another Interesting Program at Meeting Our February meeting fell on the 14th, Valentine's Day, and members were greeted at the door, and a Valentine pinned on them for the occasion. occasion. President Wiseman had made the Valentines for the ipembers, and the larger ones for decoration at the front, which were all very much appreciated Business meeting was held and Marion James gave her reports -1. Re Bus Grant for. Seniors' transportation. 2. Geritol Follies trip in June. We were very disappointed to find the afternoon performances performances had all been sold out. It was decided to try and procure tickets earlier next year for the matinee performance. performance. A sing song was held at the end of the business meeting, led by Walter Woolley, with Martha Amacher at the piano. Many old sentimental favourites favourites were sung with great enthusiasm, by the very young at heart. Walter called on one of our new members, Oscar Woll- stein, Vice-President, to sing a duet with him, this was unrehearsed unrehearsed and well received. The Wollsleins have come back home as Doris (nee Dudley), Treasurer, have both stepped in to help the club. Program was then turned over to Marion James, Program Program Director. Marion read a poem 'Grandma's Valentine'. What a lot of memories that brought back. Marion then called on Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Amacher to provide us with musical selections. selections. Mrs. Amacher in turn introduced Rev. Allan Langley Langley who is associate minister at St. John's Anglican Church. Mr. Langley has done a great deal of solo work and Mrs. Amacher asked him to sing for us, which he kindly consented to do. His first song, "Just a Song at Twilight" was indeed a voice a person could listen to, and ask for more. Truly a wonderful talent, so kindly shared, . V. Mrs. Amacher'then joined Rev. Langley in singing "Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes", which was very much enjoyed. Mr. Amacher then joined Mrs. Amacher and Rev. Langley in "Surely, Goodness and Mercy." This was a very enjoyable musical program. Marion James introduced the speaker for the night, Mrs. Sandra Grills, who spoke to us on "Neighborhood Watch." This is fairly new in Canada but has been quite successful in the States. One area in town that is interested is forming a Neighborhood Neighborhood Watch group is Waverley Gardens. Statistics have shown that signs showing a certain area is involved in "Neighborhood Watch" greatly greatly reduces the crime in that area. Following the talk a question question period was held. Mrs. Grills in working with "Neighborhood Watch" is carrying on an interest she started out with, as law clerk, and investigator. She is also in real estate. Marion James and the participants in her program were thanked for a very entertaining entertaining and informative evening. A delicious lunch followed. Our next meeting will be held March 13th at the Lions Patrick G. Deegan DENTURE THERAPY CLINIC 5 GEORGE STREET BOWMANVILLE 623-4473 or 263-2026 LEASING? EXCITING. ..BREATHTAKING.. . SUPERB ELEGANCE. At left is Heather Kane, a silver medal winner and ahead of her is Joy Alehin, winner of a gold medal. Last Wednesday, they were practising at Bowmanville Arena, without any music, because someone had broken into the building and stolen the club's tape deck earlier in the week. Fortunately, when those attending the Lions-Rotary Stag night were told of the loss, they dipped deep into their pockets and raised nearly $400 to replace the needed machine. THESE SAVINGS!
