In the first game of the evening, Townsports defeated Castle Hotel 4-3 to even up the semi-final at one game each. Townsports took an early lead and lead 3-0 after the first period. Castle came back with 1 goal in the second period leaving Townsports leading 3- 1 after two periods. Prout's Raiders Tie With Pert Hope Squad On Feb. 25th, Prout's travelled travelled to Port Hope to meet Richards Printing team in an exhibition game. It was a well played game by both clubs as they showed some fine passing and skating throughout, with end to end action right from the opening face off as both teams had a few glorious scoring scoring opportunities. Prout's goal tender Billy Burgess was put to the test a few times and did a fine job throughout the game. Prout's defense came up with a fine game as Chris Raby made a few key checks at his blue line. On one occasion a Port Hope player managed to deite around Prout's defense on the right wing breaking in on the goal for a shot, but with a great second effort Michael Marritt dove from behind to poke the puck off the Port Hope player's stick. In the second period, Prout's defense and forwards kept up the good work which resulted in their first goal, scored by David Kichko. End to end action continued in the period as Port Hope scored in a wild scramble in front of Prout's net. The Port Hope team kept up their fine skating and passing as they scored late in the second period to move ahead 2 -1. In the third period, both clubs kept up the steady pace and a great performance was shown by the Port Hope goalie Roger Palmer as he made some excellent saves. On one play of the game, Prout's Gilbert Holder made a neat pass to send Ivan McDonald in the clear but the Port Hope goalie came out to smother the puck to kill the play. After having a couple of chances earlier in the game, Prout's Andy Big Canoe scored, assisted by Glen Murdoch and Murray Char- land, In the last minute of the game with the score tied, Prout's David Kichko was able to break out in the clear bearing down on the Port Hope net but was stopped by their goalie Roger Palmer as he read the play perfectly, The game ended with a score of 2 - 2. Well done boys to both clubs. Tied with .Golf 2 Up Scoring for Townsports were Paul Dadson with two goals, Brian Martin and Brian Allen. Assists went to Brian Allen 2, Paul Dadson, Brian Martin and Kevin Haas. Scoring for Castle were Rick Woolner 2 and Dave Wilson. Assists went to Dave Wilson and John Dilling. The game's outcome might have been different if several of the Castle players had arrived on time. Saturday, March 17th Bring the gang and toast the Irish with us.
