The unusual title of the presentation "You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running" had absolutely absolutely nothing to do with the show which really was in four different segments segments or one-act plays, unrelated to each other. Because of other commitments, commitments, we missed the first two plays, "The Shock of Recognition" featuring Scott Kelly, Joe McCandless, Christine Thompson and Thom Fowler, directed by Pat Marjerrison with Ellen Logan as her assistant. assistant. And the second one,, "Footsteps of Doves" featuring John Manuel, Carol Hancock, A1 Nichols and Emma Martin. It was directed by Gerry Brooks and assisted by Lana Rickard. Outside comments comments during intermission intermission were favorable, the audience on Saturday delighted both with the plays and the way they were performed. The third play "I'll Be Home for Christmas" saw old pro John Amesbury Amesbury in action as a disturbed disturbed father being given a hard time by his wife, Linda Aldridge quite concerned about their children and some of their growing up habits. The touchy topic was handled with delicacy delicacy and had the audience roaring with laughter throughout. But, it was unusual. The third member of the cast was daughter Clarice, Sharon Thompson. Thompson. Randy Alldread was the director and his assistants were Sharon Thompson and Carol Bennett. The play that brought the most audience reaction was the final one "I'm Herbert" that was a combined takeoff on Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman or an earlier Ma and Pa Kettle Kettle skit when this older, somewhat senile couple were in their rocking chairs, recalling the past. They couldn't even remember the names of their several spouses through the years or just where they went with each and what they did. Vic Goad and Margery Bird played their parts to perfection to conclude a pleasant and enjoyable evening. Gary Brooks was the director. In addition to the fine acting, the several stage sets were intriguing and well done, under the designing designing skills of Randy Alldread. They were changed quite quickly and easily at the conclusion conclusion of each play, with the audience applauding as they watched the next set make its ap pearance. They started with a producer's office office in New York, switched to the basement basement of a department store, then to the kitchen of an apartment and ended with a verandah verandah scene in Spring, no mean accomplishment. Summing up the production, production, we would say that everybody involved did an excellent job and is to be commended. If this 24 year old group continues to produce shows of this calibre, they will warrant even more support from the community. It was suggested suggested by one involved person that the various drama groups along the lakeshore, from Whitby to Cobourg, might join together and do exchanges of productions productions and possibly personnel for future shows which could add a new cultural domension for all communities. "I'm Herbert" featured Margery Bird and Vic The cast of "Footsteps of Doves" 1-r, Emma Martin, A1 Nichols, Cai Hancock and John Manuel.
