March 21. 1984 5 Jehovah's Witnesses Members of the local congregation congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Witnesses were among the many who gathered in Norval last weekend for one of their regular regular bi-annual assemblies. The theme of this assembly was "Living No Longer For Ourselves" Ourselves" and was developed by talks, demonstrations and symposia. Practical application application was made to show that a Christian's responsibility is to adjust his life not so much for his own benefit but to do God's will and to be of help to others. Robert Alton, District Overseer Overseer for Southern Ontario, addressed a crowd of 1732 on Sunday, when he posed the question, "Why Submit to God's Rulership Now?" Frequently making reference to the Bible he then showed those in attendance how a person's future is entirely dependent on his relationship with God. By Janice Seto Bowmanville High School's Drama Club has been committed committed to presenting high quality stage productions to the public. Without a doubt, the May production "The King and I" by the prolific team of Rodgers and Hammerstein continues that tradition. Selected by the directors Mr. Sheridan and Mr. Lindop, this acclaimed musical is assembling assembling a great number of cast and crew. Although the play is scheduled for May 9, 10, 11, and 12, already the publicity people are underneath the great pile of "things to do", sorting out plans for press releases, photography, and interviews. The cast is busily learning lines as the stage people set the lights, cues and props. With such a large group of students occupied, it's a group out of trouble! The profits of the musical are to be donated to the Physical Physical Education department. The money will be used to improve the equipment of our sports individuals. The romantic but mysterious mysterious culture of the Orient has been aptly captured in our posters, designed by Angela Pickard. The posters were printed on a soft reddish pink coloured paper and will be distributed around the town. Tickets for the show may be ordered at the Bowmanville High School. The cost is $3 for students and $4 for adults. The curtain rises every night at 8:00 p.m. in the Bowmanville High School auditorium. Our seniors are invited to attend the performance on May 7. -- Heath Bilton 8.
