Guests Welcomed at Blue Ray A number from this area attended Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238, Order of the Eastern Star on Thursday evening, March 8, in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry, with a very good turn out. Worthy Matron Elsa Bongard, assisted by Worthy Matron Chris Denis conducted the opening ceremonies. The Flag was presented in the East by Marshal Stella Dennis. This was a special night for conductresses, conductresses, associate conductresses conductresses and star points from various Chapters and they were warmly welcomed by conductress Marguerite Mitchell and Star Point (Esther) Brenda Newsome, as well as the Worthy Matron. Many visiting sisters and brothers from nearby Chapters were extended a cordial greeting by sister Elsa and Blue Ray officers and members were welcomed by brother Chris. Blue Ray has many commitments to meet this year and during the business session several fundraising ideas were brought forth and. discussed at some length. Our list of priorities is having a dedicated membership, working hard to have a fulfilling year - doing what we can as a benevolent order - and we trust all members will be supportive in our efforts. Tickets are for sale on the Worthy Matron's special project - a lovely afghan and knitted stole donated by members. The beautiful quilt made and quilted by. Past Matrons and friends, was on display and tickets will soon be for sale on this lovely items. Sorry to lose a good member, brother Don Dickerson, who has been transferred to Ottawa. We have enjoyed Don's friendship very much - and wish him well in his new position. At the close of the meeting an auction sale was of interest with auctioneer auctioneer Molly O'Hagen' from the Irish settlement of Cartwright, assisted by Katie O'Hara of Port Perry. A "foine" successful successful sale, be gorra ! Refreshments were in charge of the Star points - Brenda Newsome, convener. convener. A lovely lunch- buffet style- was partaken partaken of by the many folks present- and a social hour was enjoyed. The members of Blue Ray invite inquiries and interest re- membership. For information contact any Eastern Star member or the presiding officers of our local Chapter. Caesarea Euchre Results First prize winner- Pearl Day 102; Second- James Emerton 96. A tie for low score- Linda Hughes and Norma Jean Newbold each held 48. A fair attendance. Try and support the Ladies Auxiliary Auxiliary Euchres for a pleasant pleasant evening out, A social time is enjoyed over refreshments at the close, Wednesday night at the Centre - 8 p.m. Family Interests Norm and Bernice Mairs of Nestleton, have just returned from a most enjoyable holiday in Largo, Florida- leaving leaving Toronto on Feb. 26th, returning March 8- looking looking very fit. While there, besides viewing many places of interest they called on several friends- Stand Malcolm of Port Perry and Norman and Doris Rohrer of Nestleton. As well- Norn and Bernice were in the same park as Roy and Doris Nottingham and May Dysart of Caesarea. We welcome them home! Barry and Frances Fisher and Susan, London, London, and Scott Fisher and friend Wendy from West Hill, were guests with Mrs. Minnie Fisher of Caesarea recently. Weekend guests with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm, Nestleton, and other relatives were Barry and Joan Malcolm of Simcoe. Saturday supper guests with Lawrence and Gwen were Dennis and Laina Malcolm, Jove and baby Lee Michelle of Ajax. Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point Rd., had a lovely visit and tea with Mrs. Wilfred (Jeanette) Alexander Alexander of Oshawa on Tuesday afternoon, and later were dinner guests with Alan and Eleanor Cawker and family- also of Oshawa. On Friday, three young enthused chaps from Oshawa- Curt Cawker and friends tried the ice fishing once again- but no luck! Anyway, they had supper supper in the hut and enjoyed enjoyed the afternoon very ■ much! On Sat. afternoon, it was great to have Robt. and Madeline Cawker, Scugog Is. for a visit and afternoon team at the farm. On Wednesday, March 7, Jean Williams and Mabel Cawker attended the 22nd annual meeting of Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women held at Northminster Church with a fine attendance attendance on hand. The guest speaker, Marion Brdwn, President of Bay of Quinte Conference used, as her topic "Confessing Our Faith." A delicious luncheon at the noon hour was served to over two hundred delegates. A splendid meeting! Beautification Committee Meeting •Lillian Smith- a member of the beautification committee for Scugog Township- re Bicentennial projects - has phoned to do with an important meeting to be held at the Railroadhouse Motor Motel in Port Perry, on March 21st, 7 to 9:30 p.m. All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting. A celebration of our province's 200 years of growth and cultural enrichment should be of the utmost importance to each one of us. The Caesarea area hasn't a director as yet!
