Limit OBITUARIES ANNIE E VALINE THOMAS The death of Annie Evaline Thomas occurred suddenly on Friday, February 24th, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Born August 15th, 1910, she was the daughter of Frederick and Mary Wood. Born and educated at Columbus, she was married February 11th, 1929, to Robert James Thomas, who predeceased her. A resident of Orono for 29 years, she had resided at Belwood for 27 years. Surviving are her daughters Mary, (Mrs. Ken Nixon) Orono, Freda (Mrs. Gerald Jenkins), Oshawa, a son Frederick, Clinton, 15 grandchildren grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. grandchildren. Austin Stephens, aged 57, passed away on Sunday, February 19th, 1984, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, following a week's illness. Son of William and Margaret Stephens, he was born in Darlington Twsp., and educated in Bowmanville. On June 7th, 1952, he was married to June M. Allchin. A resident of 13 Southway Drive, Bowmanville, he had been employed for 37 years at Goodyear Canada Ltd., Bowmanville, retiring two years ago. He was well known for his keen interest in model aeroplane aeroplane building. Frank Cryderman, a long-time minister at Toronto's Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, aged 85", who passed away on Tuesday, March 13th, 1984; Rev. Cryderman retired from his duties at Timothy Eaton in 1977 after 22 years. For an additional year, he continued to act as minister in charge of the church's pastoral or home visiting program. Born in Neepawa, Man., in 1898, Rev. Cryderman was only four when his father, Howard, was killed in an accident accident and the family returned . to their former Ontario, home of Hampton, near Bowmanville. Bowmanville. He graduated from Albert College in Belleville before entering Victoria College at the University of Toronto, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in 1928. Rev. Cryderman began studying for the ministry at the university's Emmanuel College but completed his formal education at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Upon leaving the seminary in 1931, he returned briefly to Toronto where he and Evangeline Evangeline Gurr were married. The couple settled in New York, where Rev, Cryderman accepted a position as assistant assistant minister and house director director at Christ Presbyterian church in Manhattan. Within five years, he was senior minister and head of church staff. The couple's two daughters were born in New York but the family traded the bustling metropolis for small-town Canada in 1941, when they moved to Elora. Four years later, lie accepted accepted a posting at the Memorial United Church in St, Catharines. Catharines. In January 1955, lie came WILFRED FOWLER Wilfred Fowler of Hampton passed away at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital on Feb. 24th, 1984. He was in his 80th year. Left to mourn his loss is his beloved wife Florence, two daughters Darlene (Mrs. Donald Lee) of Enfield and Judy Ann at home, one stepdaughter stepdaughter Gertie (Mrs. Howard Bell), Oshawa, one stepson (Bud) of Trenton, 26 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, one brother George, Bowmanville, and one sister Rena Rogerson, Newcastle. He was predeceased predeceased by one stepson Almyr of R.R. 2, Pontypool, four sisters,'Ada, Tressa, Ella and Violet and five brothers, Bob, Richard, Roy, Lou and Lenard. He was born in Cartwright. He went, to Saskatchewan to help at harvest. He obtained a ■job as a farm hand and later got a farm of his own. In 1953, he returned to Ontario and bought a home in Hampton., He worked with Wilson's Construction, Construction, Windfield Farms, Oshawa Wood Products and then for the Township of Darlington. He remained there until his retirement. Complete service was held on Feb. 27 from Morris Funeral Chapel. Spring interment interment at Ballyduff Cemetery. HUGH THOMAS MURPHY Following a brief illness, Hugh Thomas Murphy, passed away in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Friday, March 9th, 1984, in his 66th year. Born at Montreal, Quebec, and educated at' New Park School, Long Sault, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Murphy, Long Sault. He was married February 15th, 1947, to Ruth Purdy. A licensed mechanic with Cowan Pontiac Motors, he had retired nine years ago. He was a member of Trinity United Church, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, and the L.O.L. 764, Long Sault. Mr. Murphy served in the Armed Forces from 1939- 1945. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Ruth, a son Don, a daughter Brenda (Mrs. Alex Ploeger), a son Wayne, six grandchildren, a brother Walter, a sister Edith (Mrs. Roy McLaughlin) and a brother Harold.
